Connecticut Poll

A poll for the U.S. Senate race in Connecticut was released by Rasmussen Polling Company. It shows 54% for incumbent Democrat Joseph Lieberman, 37% for potential independent candidate Lowell Weicker, 7% “other”, and 7% “not sure”. No Republican was named, since no one knows who the Republican nominee will be. The poll was taken on December 8.

  1. Lowell Weiker(R) lost to Lieberman(D) in 1988 by about 1%. Weiker was probably the most left-wing Republican in the Senate at the time. Many Rebublicans (the Buckley family) voted for then-Att. General Lieberman, just to get rid of Lowell Weiker. Weiker then ran for Gov. in 1990 and won on the “A Connecticut Party” line, and promptly started Connecticut’s first income tax. Be careful for what you wish for – you might get it.

  2. Well the poll tells me that the 37% that voted for Weicker are include a small percent of people that may have moved to Connecticut AFTER Weicker left and therefore dont remember taht he was aginst income tax when he was running but soon after he got elected he put in the income tax.
The aother is a small percent of the people who probably dont pay taxes anyway and the rest die hard Republicans that would want a epublican no matter what. I am a Republican and would rather chop off my right hand than vote for someone that changes what he said before he got elected. Lieberman has always been a good honest man, a good family man, has been good for Connecticut and and HONEST man. I trust Joe and will vote for him I have a lot of respect for his honesty and integrety.
