This is the second time that a move to disassociate the Independent American Party of Nevada has failed. The problem stems from the IA's party platform on Abortion which reads, "We support the sanctity of innocent human life. We acknowledge that life begins at conception regardless of court decisions to the contrary. That we are created and endowed by our creator with certain unalienable rights. The foundation of these rights being: life. It is the paramount responsibility of government to protect innocent human life and liberty from conception to natural death."

Some members of the Constitution Party does not believe this is strong enough language. The Constitution Party not only opposes abortion even in cases of rape and incest, but also opposes distribution of birth control methods it calls abortifacients.
