They are afraid the people might hear something they like and take away votes from the two mains. Yet the various branches of the U.S. government spend much of their time and energy denying democracy to the very people who are supplying those military personnel, the people of the United States. The United States government twists arms of people in foreign governments, telling them to allow broader participation in their governments, yet its various branches twists logic and common sense in order to deny broader participation here. Is it inconsistency? Or is it hypocrisy? Among the excuses for sending U.S. military personnel to risk their lives in Iraq is “we want to bring democracy.”
