California Debate Bill Advances

On April 19, the California Assembly Elections Committee passed AB 970. It requires the Secretary of State to sponsor 3 general election gubernatorial debates. All ballot-listed candidates would be invited.

    Someone correct me if this is wrong, but doesn’t the bill leave open the question of how many candidates get invited? I seem to recall the question coming up during the April 17 hearing and the answer being that the Secretary of State and/or a debate commission would decide.
