I do not oppose a initiative petition in Oklahoma to change the ballot access law, but I believe it would be a massively expensive project. After 35 years of experience with the Oklahoma political system, I am just about fed up with petitions. The unanimous denial in May by the Oklahoma Supreme Court to hear a ballot access case brought by the Oklahoma Libertarian organization has led me to conclude that a campaign to deny three state Supreme Court Justices retention on the 2008 ballot is a justified and economical alternative to an initiative petition campaign. I would gladly attend the July planing meeting, but I have a previous commitment out of state at that time. If I decide to run as an independent for Congress in 2008, I will campaign against retention of these three Justices for 2008. If an initiative is pursued I will support it also.
