Ron Paul Releases Information on Last Quarter Fund-Raising

Ron Paul reports that he has $2,400,000 in his campaign bank account. Data for all presidential candidates will be known officially on July 15, when reports for the last calendar quarter must be filed with the Federal Election Commission. The other Republicans who have already released their figures are the front-runners: Rudy Giuliani $15,000,000 for the primary season (plus another $3,000,000 that can only be spent on the general election and must be returned if he isn’t nominated); Mitt Romney $12,000,000; John McCain $2,000,000. Data for the other contenders will be reported on this blog when it is available. However, it is believed that Paul is in 3rd place in the “cash on hand” category among Republicans.

Ron Paul Releases Information on Last Quarter Fund-Raising — 11 Comments

  1. This is really great news for Ron Paul supporters who remind me allot of the Ralh Nader supporters. Both campaigns are greass roots driven. I wrote to Ralph Nader and told him, “If you run this year I will volunteer to help you work on ballot access because an Independent candidate has the RIGHT to be on the ballot, but I’ll be voting for Ron Paul in 08”.

  2. So Ron Paul is now Top Tier, Correct? Or is the media going to try ignore him longer?

    He still needs more money.
Ron Paul will be the Next President of the United States!

  3. Will $2.4 million cash on hand at the end of the last quarter earn long-shot presidential candidate Rep. Ron Paul enough credibility to warrant a spot in upcoming presidential debates? It should.

The ABC News Political Radar blog reported today that the nine-term congressman from Texas has $400,000 more cash on hand than his Republican rival Sen. John McCain of Arizona.

Upon reading that news, I had to wonder whether or not groups sponsoring future presidential debates would follow the sad precedent set by Iowans for Tax Relief and Iowa Christian Alliance — co-sponsors of a presidential candidates forum in Des Moines June 30 — and refuse to consider Ron Paul a “credible” candidate.

Any group with even a shred of decency and self-respect must now include Ron Paul in any presidential debate it sponsors — or exclude John McCain, too!

  4. this shows me that Paul is not blowing his dough and has some smart management behind him.

  5. Nice to see all those Ron Paul supporters are now spamming his donation site!

    Run Ron, run!

  6. Imagine if our country was run as efficiently as the Paul campaign …

We might not be in debt to China to the tune of hundreds of billions of dollars. We might not pay an effective taxation rate of 60%+ after all of the nickels, dimes and pennies were stolen from the middle class. Hell, we might even be able to actually govern ourselves again.

  7. “this shows me that Paul is not blowing his dough and has some smart management behind him.”

This shows me that he is running his campaign in a manner consistent with his stated principles. He is against big government spending and runs his campaign accordingly. He is staunch critic of deficit spending and has run his campaign accordingly (unlike some presidential candidates).

I think that we will begin to see more of him as we get later into the year. It was good news to hear that he was turning away volunteers due to a lack of space at his headquarters. I am not at all disheartened to hear that the fundraising wasn’t more successful. If his funds were raised mainly via the internet then $2.4 million is actually quite incredible. Being able to generate that kind of cash without a) neglecting his congressional duties and b) using loopholes in the system ($1000/plate dinners, etc.) is a very encouraging sign.

As I’m sure you are all aware, the Spartanburg, SC GOP chairman has reversed his decision to not allow Ron Paul to participate in their public event. A strong showing from Ron Paul supporters caused him to reverse his decision in the same way that the Michigan GOP head did.

  8. Imagine for a minute a group of businesspeople or government union special interest “donating” some substantial money in their name by proxy their own employees without necessarily their employees or members supporting “their” particular candidate. This in my opinion potentiates a 2.5 million contribution perhaps 4, 10 , 20 fold as real support? I think so, and hope so.
