Minnesota Republican Caucus Moved from March to February

On July 11, the Minnesota Republican State Executive Committee moved the Republican presidential caucus from March to February 5. The Minnesota Democrats are considering doing the same thing, but won’t decide until September 2007.

Minnesota Republican Caucus Moved from March to February — No Comments

  1. Interesting that here in Nevada the GOP decided to move the date up to 1/19 to “compete” with the Dems. I really don’t understand the rationale for this since they’re parallel processes limited to party registrants in this closed primary state.

However, Minnesota is an open primary state with no party registration. As a former resident there and caucus participant back in the 70’s I remember all caucuses held on the same day at the same time. If this is no longer the case, what safeguards will be in place to keep individuals from participating in BOTH parties’ caucuses?
