Unity08 Qualifies as a Party in Florida
August 29th, 2007Unity08 has become a qualified party in Florida. Florida law makes it very easy for groups to become qualified; they merely inform the state of the names and contact information for the state officers of the party.

This makes some 27 minor parties for Florida, 2/3 of which have never run a candidate for office. My personal favorite is the Surfers Party of America.
Unity08 will also be qualified in Mississippi soon.

Another recent addition to the list of Florida qualified parties: the Real Food Party of the USA. Effective August 20.
Another personal favorite: the Pirate Party.

Hmm, and they still claim to the FEC that they are “not a party” — I gues they’ll have to pay their high price lawyers even more money. Contributors be warned!
