Actually, former Senator Eugene J. McCarthy (one of the most famous people in the history of USA presidential politics) was kept out of the 1976 General Election Debates simply because the two largest parties and the establishment news media did not want him included. He was the Committee for a Constitutional Presidency/McCarthy '76 organization's independent candidate for president.

I agree getting rid of the CPD is for the best. But it would be hard for them to keep her out since she is not a "no-name" candidate. If they start excluding people who have held national office, I believe the public would start to see the CPD for what it is. A politically biased organization that caters to the Reps and Dems. That could be a catalyst to start some change. It's not a given, but right now, it's the best shot third parties have to gain access. Stop being so negative about what public outcry can accomplish.

Why would it be hard for the debate commission to keep her out of their debates? Ages ago, they deliberately set a Catch-22 bar that no 3rd party candidate can climb over. Why would the fact that she used to be a congresswoman make any difference? That didn't help Ron Paul any when he was the LP candidate in 1988.

If McKinney IS the nominee, she will almost certainly face the same situation every other 3rd party candidate faces, i.e. she won't even be included in any of the major opinion polls, and therefore will be utterly ignored by the CPD no matter how loudly people scream and whine.

The CPD is a private corporation managed by the two major parties and trying to break into their quadrennial soirees is a complete waste of time. The only exception would be an anomaly like Michael Bloomberg - an already very famous person pouring enough money into his own campaign so that the media have to take him seriously; he gets tons of face time on TV and the internet; his name is included in opinion polls; and he miraculously shows up consistently above their (totally arbitrary) 15% figure.

The solution is not to try and reform the CPD, it's to get rid of it altogether along the lines of www.opendebates.org. Ralph Nader has been tirelessly promoting this for years now.

Cynthia McKinney is the best thing that could happen to the third parties. While I don't agree with her politics, being a former elected Congresswoman brings instant credibility to the ticket. It would be very hard for the Presidential Commission on Debates to ignore her and keep her out of the debate. And if they do let her in, then the Constitution and Libertarian parties have a very valid argument that they should be allowed in the debates too. Especially if Tancredo and Paul are their nominees. McKinney would also challenge Hillary's "You must vote for me because I am a woman" mantra that she has been spewing out to females across the country.

The Green Party will be very happy to have Cynthia McKinney as the presidential candidate in 2008. The fact that this is angering various Zionists, Neocons, Dixiecrats, DLC hacks, etc. is all the more reason for the GP to nominate her as the candidate for president.

So Atlanta is not totally rid of her. We thought she would set up cam in California and stay there. Exactly where does Cynthia McKinney coorelate with the GREEN party? She should be running as the, "Hate America Party". With her September 11th 2007 appearance on Irans Press TV show, The Agenda, she spewed her hate America speech throughout the world. The Greens will be very sorry for allowing her to run on their ticket.
