Thompson Failed to Qualify in D.C. Presidential Primary

December 26th, 2007

Republicans running in the District of Columbia presidential primary needed 298 signatures of registered Republicans. Although Fred Thompson’s campaign took out petition blanks, his campaign didn’t turn in any signatures. The D.C. Board of Elections does not check the validity of these signatures, so he would have been on the ballot if he had turned in a petition that had at least 298 names on it.

all the republicans in dc. is not enough to shake a stick. as a matter of fact they could probably all fit in a large phone booth.

  2. Richard Says:

Yes, but D.C. does have delegates to the national convention, so it would be worthwhile to be on that primary ballot.

  3. David Gaines Says:

But since the nominee is going to be known many months prior to the convention, and D.C. sends a minimal number of delegates to the convention anyway, and the D.C. Republican Party has virtually no clout with the national GOP………well, you do the math. :-)

How is it these guys be Broke and can FAIL to get on the ballot and still be called “front runners”??

Ron Paul isn’t broke. He polls higher than Fred. Yet he’s not taken serious by the Media. Better look out, better not cry, I’m tellin’ ya why… Ron Paul’s gonna win, Iowa.
