I find it very interesting that VOA is covering this. I think VOA’s reputation is a means of pro-American propaganda to foreigners. I suspect VOA wants to give the impression to foreigners that government in the U.S. is open and multi-partisan, like many foreign governments.
Wasn’t the U.S. having treaty problems because of some of our restrictive ballot access laws?
Excellent point, Arthur. I was thinking the same thing. “VOA” is the official propaganda organ of the US government abroad (along with “Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty”, and others).
Note how the article jabbers about “the effect of spoilers” but does not mention the vast ballot access restrictions that exist in the US. It also does not mention how the “debates” are tightly controlled by the same two political parties that have endlessly ruled the country.
