Well Robert I have to disagree with you on the only way being to run for office. While this is part of the solution, it's not the entire solution. A strong state organization will help project the Independent voice in that state and can focus on issues which affects indies just as they do 3rd parties such as ballot access. In Missouri, Show Me Independents membership is made up of a diverse group of individuals from different ideological and political thought but with a common goal of making the political playing field even for Indies and 3rd parties.

The Constitution Party was just approved to be on the ballot here and while I personally do not agree with their platform, the organization sincerely welcomes the extension of more choice on the ballot.

Do agree with you that the two majors are not giving us good government. To often it's about what is good for my party and not what is good for my constituents.

It's sad there is no independent movement nationally. I sincerely believe that a strong coalition of Indies and 3rd parties could solve some of the problems which plague us from partisan politics. Recently in a conference call with Rock the Debates, it was suggested that such a coalition begin in order to open the debates to 3rd parties and Indies. While it would entail a massive coordination to form a coalition, it has the potential to be very effective in accomplishing our common goals.

Groups like cuip who say they represent Indies and the 'movement' have only soured the grapes and made it more difficult for genuine independents to accomplish the necessary goals.

The only way independents will make any progress is for individual independent voters to register as candidates for public offices. An independent organization is a contradiction. Independents are not going to influence these two corrupt major parties by imitating them. What it will take is for some independent voters to register as independent candidates, especially for state and local offices, and to start saying, These two corrupt major parties are not giving us good government.

One thing I remember about Lenora Fulani is that, when she ran for president, she railed against "rich white men."

A few years later, she was allied with Ross Perot, one of the richest white men in America.

Barb, I have followed GOP, the Dems, California's Peace and Freedom Party, and the so called reform movement for decades. [Follow me folks ---I am right behind you!] Sarcastic thoughts run through my blood with out prompting. Call 619.420.0209 [Sandy Ego County] any time to talk culture and politics!

Just be aware that half a decade exposed to the self abusive jerks of the reform movement [see illustration[s] near 'Circular Firing Squad'] have left me with out feelings above the neck!

The only recent federal chief executives I can stomach are Ike and Harry [Truman]. With qualifications, I admire 1912 California reform Bull Moose progressive Governor Hiram S. Johnson, John Anderson and Patrick Lacey [1980 National Unity Party], and, on a mellow day, Uncle Ralph! I believe that Richard Winger will be proven to be a secular saint.

The CUIP/ IV/ IV is not on my enemies list ----I just do not begin to understand them.
