California Secretary of State Says Alan Keyes is AIP Presidential Candidate

On July 21, the California Secretary of State recognized the American Independent Party state convention that was held in Sacramento, instead of the one that had been held a week earlier in Los Angeles. The Secretary of State’s Chief Counsel, Pam Giarrizzo, said that the Secretary of State made the decision based on the fact that Ed Noonan is listed in the records as the state chair. She said the office has no knowledge of who was at either convention, and of which convention had the larger attendance of state central committee members. She had no memory of how former Secretary of State March Fong Eu handled a somewhat similar situation differently, in 1988, for the Peace & Freedom Party. She said she might or might not look into the 1988 records, but said also that the decision is final.

Since the convention chaired by Ed Noonan chose presidential electors pledged to Alan Keyes, he will be the American Independent Party presidential nominee unless the other faction is able to sue successfully.

California Secretary of State Says Alan Keyes is AIP Presidential Candidate — No Comments

  1. It looks like the Constitution Party is no longer “America’s third largest party.” Is there enough time to put Baldwin on the ballot through another party?

  2. It is extremely difficult to qualify a new party in California. It requires 88,991 registered members to qualify a new party.

The independent petition is due August 8 and needs 158,372 valid signatures.

  3. Ouch…

The Big Three Third Parties need to learn to compromise.

The Libertarians have done the best at this year.

They welcomed all sorts of new presidential candidates…especially making big tent for Senator Mike Gravel, and Congressman Barr…

They’ll be rewarded for it on the ballot …and at the polls.

The Green Party McKinney and Nader couldn’t form alliance…

Constitutin Baldwin and Keyes couldn’t form alliance…

They’ll pay the price with less ballot lines, and barring unforseen miracles…less votes..

  4. “They’ll pay the price with less ballot lines, and barring unforseen miracles…less votes.”

    You are so right.

    How foolish. How completely stupid.

I do pray Noonan wins in the courts.

If he does RIP Constitution Party. And Thank God! If not. Oh well. It is no longer my problem.

  5. As it’ll almost certainly wind up in the courts, do you know how strong/weak the Baldwin faction’s case is going to be?

  6. Noonan should lose.

Keyes should have stepped down gracefully after he lost the national party ballot.

    Hansen:

What is foolish? That the CP did not choose Keyes as their nominee? Or that Noonan did not let the national CP winner get the nomination?

Why do you want Noonan to win?

  7. “That which does not kill us makes us stronger.” – some dead guy who thought God is dead

  8. Frasier: “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.”

Niles: “Yes, but not everybody makes it into the second category!!!!”

  9. Well, assuming this will all end up in years of court battles; for the moment it appears Keyes can drop the clunky moniker America’s Independent Party, and go straight old fashioned AIP.

So, how many states is Keyes on so far? Colorado, California, Florida? I can’t find any clear answers on the A’sIP sites, nor alankeyes.com.

  10. I am following AIP developments for a writing project (I also knew Wm. K. Shearer for many years and interviewed him just weeks before his death) … question: is this a final decision or are there other legal steps that can be taken?

Poor Bill must not be resting in peace … yet.

  11. Wow! This IS bad news for the CP and the Baldwin campaign. If this isn’t reversed in court it is game over for the CP in 2008.

  12. > It is extremely difficult to qualify a new party in California. It requires 88,991 registered members to qualify a new party.

I know that in Delaware, the US Taxpayers Party asked all of its members to re-register as Constitution Party to avoid the hassles of a name change (Delaware only required 238 or so party members to be recognized, IIRC). Is it too late for the national Constitution Party to ask its California members to likewise “re-register” to get Baldwin on the ballot? Even if that failed, would the reduction in AIP membership keep Noonan from getting his way (assuming it goes below the 88,991 mark)?
This would also end the arguments that Californians are too stupid to not know the difference between being an Independent and being a member of the American Independent Party/Constitution Party, and might actually increase membership since the association with George Wallace would once and for all be ended.
Also, given the lack of attendance at the Sacramento meeting, will Noonan be able to get the 55 electors needed?

  13. TO HELL WITH KEYES HE IS JUST A PLAIN DAMN FOOL.HIS SUPPORTERS NEED MENTAL HELP, THE MAN IS A CLOWN.

  14. In the unlikely event that the AIP ticket wins California, would all 55 electors vote for Keyes (or Baldwin if this gets reversed in court) or will some electors be voting for Keyes and some voting for Baldwin? With 55 electors, it would seem the possibility of a faithless elector being pretty high.

  15. Keyes is a Christian Zionist. As a result of Keyes’ strong advocacy of Israel on his MSNBC show, in July 2002 the state of Israel awarded him a special honor “in appreciation of his journalistic endeavors and his integrity in reporting” and flew him to meet Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, as well as spend four days touring Israeli military installations. It is clear that the Zionist have taken over the AIP.

  16. Zionist taking over, woow be careful you sound like a Neo Nazi.

    What would Jesus do?

  17. Dear friend,

Please excuse the rushed tone of this message but the situation is heating up in West Virginia.

When I wrote to you on Friday, I had until the close of business on Monday to raise $43,000.

I have good news and bad news.

The bad news is that we fell about $3,000 short of our goal.

The good news is that over 662 supporters donated to our effort and we were able to raise $40,030! Thank you!

Our campaign manager, Russ Verney, is a hard-nosed guy but he recognizes that the support is there and, while it’s a long shot, we still have a chance to make it on the ballot in West Virginia.

Russ has given me the green light to continue the drive. We’re going to go for it and I’ll need your help more than ever.

I’ve been on the ground in WV for less than a week and have been able to get 18 petitioners hired, trained and working.

That’s not enough, I need 30 more people by the end of the week.

I had been assured by the state employment agency that they would help hire local petitioners to fill the gap. That fell apart yesterday when they informed me that there was not much that they could do because of internal policies.

    You’ve gotta love bureaucracy . . .

In order to make up the shortfall in manpower, I’m going to need to fly in more people immediately.

I’m going to make a big request that I need you to seriously consider. This is an “either/or” so please read and consider both options:

    EITHER . . .

Visit the “Wild and Wonderful” state of West Virginia!
If you’re willing to petition in West Virginia and can take time out of our schedule until August 1st. I need you here by Friday.

It’s beautiful country, with nice people, and you’ll be supporting a great cause.

If you can take the time to come to West Virginia for the duration (August 1) and are comfortable asking strangers to sign a piece of paper, please contact me immediately by calling 877-465-6080 .

    OR YOU CAN . . .

Sponsor a petitioner to travel to West Virginia!
If you cannot take the time out yourself, I completely understand, but you can still help in a very big way by sponsoring someone who can make this short-notice trip.

Each supporter that can petition for Barr/Root is going to cost at least $250 to travel plus about $50 a night at a not-so-luxurious hotel. Please make a donation and cover what you can.

A $50, $250 or even a contribution of $25 will help us cover these added expenses. Click here to donate.

Please give us a hand with this effort as there are only nine days left to get the job done.

THANK YOU for your continued support. We could not do this without you.

    Shane Cory
    Deputy Campaign Manager
    Bob Barr 2008

  18. Let’s face it, the CP had the chance to put a prominent candidate on the ballot for the first time. Keyes got close to 1,000,000 votes in the 2000 Republican Primary and if in the debates would have changed some minds. He owned McCain before on an abortion question in a debate.

If you add the 92, 96, 2000 and 2004 CP votes for President they would be even half a million.

Straight up- it’s hard to beat Alan Keyes in a debate when he’s on his game.

Yes, Congress should declare all wars. Dr. Keyes will tell you that. Paul backers will say pull troops home from everywhere, bad idea. The isolationist side of the CP won, uh I mean lost.

  19. I don’t know which convention the Secretary of State should have recognized, but it seems to me that she didn’t put a whole lot of thought into the matter.

  20. Keyes got fewer than 41,000 votes in all the Republican presidential primaries this year from January through March.

  21. Thanks again Jonathan/ Shane Cory for intruding on yet another Non Bob Barr P2008 string. Come the day that most folk ‘bump over’ your post [like Durango and Cody Quirk] don’t say you were not warned! You may get SOME short term gain, but you are ‘screwing da pooch’ long term.

  22. This makes me sick. I saw Keyes speak in 1998 and thought he would be great in a leadership role such as President. Now, he has confirmed the rumors that he is in it for himself. If only the wannabe presidents would have just run for the House of Reps, we would be better off. Names such as Buchanan, Perot, Forbes, Keyes, et. al., come to mind. It’s almost as if they run for the highest office for ego purposes instead of “just” getting a lowly spot in Congress. They could have made a more positive and lasting impact by serving the people in that capacity instead of running for pres.

  23. Yeah, the ‘pesty flies’ have won a ‘battle’ but, they have NOT won the war, yet! It is NOT over till the fat lady sings! The REAL AIP ‘loyalists’
(aka:CPer’s)are in this fight for the LONG HAUL, whatever it takes. The REAL AIP have their legal team already in place, and their documentation ready to submit to the court. Let’s wait until the dust clears shall we gentlemen?
WE in the AIP, have toiled far too long, over the many years, to simply hand over our party to a bunch of
panty waist buffoons. -Larry Breazeale, Msgt.(ret.)USAF,Nat.Chrm.National Veterans Coalition of the CP…www.nvets.org

  24. If AIP is an Independent party, why can’t they just pick who they want as president. The AIP seemed to follow CA law. Is it easy to switch from AIP to the CP. allowing the CP to have it’s own organization in California?

  25. The problem is that there are two competing state conventions in California, both claiming to be the “real” AIP. The Baldwin meeting had far more members of the state central committee than the Keyes meeting did, but the Secretary of State didn’t pay any attention to that.

  26. Craig M: you can add doughtering ole [Mississippi] reform party ancient Ted Weill to the list! He is the OFFICIAL nominee [and unofficial national laughing stock] for POTUS via the court monitored DFW ‘convention’! I guess the old fart needed to pad his upcomming obit!

News Flash: Reform Party USA adopts, in principal, a new partisan emblem, the Circular Firing Squad!

Go Ted Weill, Go Ted Weill, Go Ted Weill!

  27. “Paul backers will say pull troops home from everywhere, bad idea.”

Why is that a bad idea? Who is set to invade us if we did so? What is the doomsday scenario you worry about if we did so? What would we do is save a heck of a lot of money, quit making enemies, and quit killing people and getting our troops killed. Novel idea, I know. Plus, since the CP is a constitutionalist and conservative party, our embrace of non-interventionism has the added benefit of actually being both conservative and constitutional. I know, another novel idea. A foreign policy intended to protect America, not police the world.

  28. Those loyal to the CP should form a new Constitution Party in the state. Even if it is too late for this election, this unfortunate situation should never be allowed to happen again.

  29. question: is this a final decision or are there other legal steps that can be taken?

= Peter don’t be surprised at all if it goes to the courts.

And not all Californians are stupid, but the current SoS sure is!

  30. The Professor re. #22, let’s not get carried away. Keyes strongly supports Israel, but he is Catholic so he is not a dispensationalist pre-mil. He supports Israel on strategic and “moral” grounds, not explicitly theological grounds. The subject of Israel caused some controversy on his forum. Not that any of his supporters didn’t support Israel, but some who were not dispy pre-mils were clearly uncomfortable with the theological justifications of others who were.

Many of those who support Keyes in the rump AIP are Mormons who, as far as I know, aren’t dispy pre-mils or any other kind of Christian Zionists?

Christian support for Israel is certainly behind some “conservative” interventionism, but that is not what is driving this boat.

  31. My mother LOL Thanks, you made my day!

And I have NEVER been a member of the Constitution Party. I have been a member of the Independent American Party of Nevada. They are associated with the Constitution Party but have not paid dues in years, to the best of my knowledge, due to disputes.

I want us out and have for over a decade. I do not like the way the play the game of politics. Obviously neither did Mr. Noonan.

But I do not know the whole story on that but I still hope he wins.

    Press Release From Jim King:

    All:

In June, we held a legally called party convention, where we reaffirmed our
party affiliation with the Constitution Party, and confirmed the nomination of Chuck Baldwin as candidate for our party in the Presidential election this coming November.

News, rumors and speculation that we failed in this effort are grossly premature. The Secretary of State’s comments may, offhand, appear to be
ruling not in our favor in this issue. What many do not realize, is that cases of this type are not debated in their office, but rather in the California Superior Court. The Secretary of State’s office regularly looks to the Sacramento
Superior Court for clarification in matters of this type. This is nothing new, it is standard operating procedure. From the very beginning, we knew this was the likely course of events, and have prepared for such in our planning.

The Secretary of State’s office and the people working there are not our enemies, in fact they are our friends! We have had a great working
relationship with them for many, many years. When we contacted the Secretary of States office we were cordially and immediately connected with
the attorney in charge and he was happy to explain in detail what we need to do in our next steps to finally resolve this issue.

I am greatly appreciative of the support of the vast majority of the active members of our party, who have faithfully come to our aid. We will continue in protecting constitutional values, as has been our mission over the last 40 years. Stay firm in your passion and commitment to our party!

    – Jim King, Chairman Elect

  33. And Jim Clue Less King will also tell you that state and national veterans programs are just dandy! No need to worry, they are just fine!

Prop him up, wind him up, let him talk! Clueless, clueless, clueless.

We will stay firm in our passion and commitment to active duty and former military and the immoral, illegal, and unlawful raw deal that California and USDVA have given them. Too bad the old AIP and current CP could not care less.

  34. It is amazing that in a society that tells us repeatedly that everyone is an individual and you shouldn’t necessarily support your own race or group, too many Jews routinely put their group loyalty above everything else, but no public figures have the guts to expose this obvious fact. it is easy for extremist Jews to overly influence a society when powerful extremist Jews in government, media and finance support each other and the Jewish agenda (such as the catastrophic Iraq War and the future war with Iran) while everyone else is divided and compromised.

  35. Alan Says:
    July 22nd, 2008 at 3:16 pm
Those loyal to the CP should form a new Constitution Party in the state. Even if it is too late for this election, this unfortunate situation should never be allowed to happen again.

    Phil Sawyer responds:

One could hardly prevent such a thing from happening again, no matter what. As long as there is enough freedom left for people to associate and organize, they will do whatever they wish to do.

If there is a group of people in California that desires to qualify a new Constitution Party, I say good luck! Based upon the lagging performance of the national Constitution Party, such a group would have a difficult time in getting lots of people excited about such a project.

  36. I am the Vice Chairman of the American Independent Party and a National Committeeman. Plus I was re-
elected the Chairman of the Orange County Central
Committee of AIP on July 14, 2008 at the Courthouse
in Santa Ana. Jim King has give you disinformation. First all conventions according to
the California Election Code must have the location
designated by the State Central Committee. The only convention that was designated by the State Central Committee took place in Sacramento in the
California Secretary of State Building on July 5,
2008. I should know because I was elected Chairman of AIP 2008 Convention. The event that Jim King is talking about could not have been a convention, because it did not take place in Sacramento; was not designated by the AIP State Central Committee; was not called to order by either Chairman Edward C. Noonan or myself (because in the AIP all meetings must be called to order by either the Chairman or Vice Chairman of the party {if the Chairman is absent}).

Further, the only quorum for the 2008 AIP Convention took place at Sacramento on July 5,
2008. The events at Los Angeles Westin Hotel
    on June 28 & 29, 2008, fell way short of a quorum.
I was there taking head counts as people left and
entered the meeting room from my seat in the hotel
    lobby.

Jim King states that “cases of this type are not
debated in their (Sacramento’s Secretary of State)
office, but rather in the California Superior Court.” No, Jim you are wrong the Secratary of State has ruled that Alan Keyes / Wiley Drake are
on the November ballot under the label of the
American Independent Party. You need to read what
Richard Winger wrote on BALLOT ACCESS NEWS on the
ruling of the Secretary of State.

Do not be fooled by the disinformation provide by
Jim King. Let’s work hard an make Ambassador
Alan Keyes the next President of these United States.

  37. Alan Keyes and Wiley Drake will drive the Republicans nuts. Hey, this is California! Remember?

  38. GLAD ALAN IS ON THE BALLOT. I STILL SUPPORT HIM EVEN THOUGH I CAN’T VOTE FOR HIM IN MICHIGAN,
There is alot of support for Alan Keyes in Michigan!!!

I am still trying to get votes his way in the states where he does have ballot access.

  39. Man what a soap opera !

I don’t think AIP has gotten this much attention since Bo Gritz ran in 92.

  40. Mark Seidenberg:

Let’s work hard an make Ambassador
Alan Keyes the next President of these United States.

No. If Baldwin is not on the California ballot, the California people interested in the Constitution should write him in. hat do they nees to do, if anything, to qualify Baldwin as a write-in in California?

The CP really screwed up this year in not doing the nomination early and in securing access in a large number of states. Nonetheless, we should do what we can to get as many votes for Baldwin as possible through write-ins, and through his place on the ballot where he is on the ballot.

What King is saying, in case you don’t understand, is that they are going to sue.

  42. “The CP really screwed up this year in not doing the nomination early and in securing access in a large number of states.”

The CP screwed up by cordially inviting Keyes to run in the first place. Yes, Howard Phillips was right to eventually ask him not to run, but why all the playing footsie and nicey nice prior to that? As the long debates at TPW prove, some of us knew Keyes was not an acceptable candidate for this party from the beginning. (Neither were Smith and Iran obsessed Corsi for that matter.)

Now, sad to say, we are reaping what we have sown? Keyes is playing the role of the jilted lover and Hoefling, Noonan and others are egging him on.

Keyes desperately needs to get a real job.

  43. Keyes is wrong to be a fanatic in his support of American wars(Iraq and the coming war with Iran) for Israel. There is no economic reason why American Taxpayers should support Israel. Israel has no oil, the Arabs do. End of story. From a moral standpoint, the Israel’s Jews persecute Christians. A large part of the original inhabitants of Palestine were Christian, not surprising, since that is where Christ preached the Gospel. Even today, if one wants to preach the Gospel of our Blessed Lord, the Israeli authorities will not allow it. Unfortunately, Israel is controlled by the ultra Orthodox branch of their religion. According to the Rabbinical Talmud that is taught in Israel, Gentiles are looked upon in the same way as they were looked upon in the time of the Apostle Paul. In America, we have a separation of religion and state. We should not give taxpayer money ($5-10billion a year) to such a state that persecutes Christians the same way that they persecuted the early Church.

The American Independent Party should go back to their original platform of being against foreign adventures.

  44. Pastor Stephen – I see that there’s an Association of Baptist Churches in Israel which claims there are 20 Baptist churches in Galilee and central Israel with hundreds of baptized members and thousands of believers. That doesn’t seem to support your claim that the Gospel is not allowed to be preached. What do you mean? http://www.baptist.org.il/en_about.php

  45. Steve, Government and Religious authorities carry on a constant campaign of persecution against
parents who send their children to Christian schools. This is an example of this campaign:
The Grand Rabbinate supported this campaign by an appeal in which it denounced the
misdeeds of Christian Mission. According to Hatsofe newspaper the Grand rabbinate appeal states: “The Christian Missions open under the feet of Jewish children the precipice of assimilation and of change of religion. Those who by attending these schools let themselves be drawn change their religion become the enemies of our
national existence. We want this appeal to reach all in Israel. We proclaim a special week
for action and for information. We launch an appeal in to collect the necessary funds for the
    realization of this action.”
The newspaper Hatsofe supported the appeal by the Grand Rabbinate with an
inflammatory racist rant,“This action must be carried out with all possible vigor until the impurity is destroyed by fire from the face of the earth.”
Large placards were displayed in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and other cities stating: “Do you
know that 2,000 children receive Christian education in Israel? Do you know that 400
preachers and Christian sent by 48 Christian missionary institutions were recruited for the
new immigrants? Mr. Amos Eylon published an article in Ha’aretz on March 14, 1954 in which he stated:
“Government employees as well as those working in municipalities who send their children to Christian schools were obliged under threat of being fired to transfer their children to Jewish schools.”
A section was established in the Ministry of Religious Affairs for the object of fighting
Christian missions. This section is sending spies into churches, monasteries, and Christian schools to detect who visit these Christian establishments and to take the names of all those who associate with , or send their children to Christian schools.
BEER SHEVA, Israel (BP)–The arrest of a Messianic Jewish evangelist in Israel reflects the strife that often confronts Messianic Jews.
Messianic evangelist Eddie Beckford was arrested outside his business, the Chess and Bible Shop in Arad, after a mob of ultra-Orthodox Haradim Jews surrounded his van in the parking lot and beat him Feb. 25.

“In general over the years here in the south in the Negev, in Arad and in Beer Sheva, there has been some form of harassment or persecution,” Howard Bass, leader of the Nahalat Yeshua congregation in Beer Sheva, said.

Groups of ultra-Orthodox Jews seem to have a difficult time accepting the fact that some Jews would believe that Jesus is the Messiah and that they would want to evangelize other Jews, Bass said. So those anti-Messianic groups work to stop the people they consider “missionaries” through various degrees of persecution.

Steve, please pray that the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ will spread through out all of Israel and all we come to know Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. I know that persecution will help the Gospel spread, like in the early Church. The Apostle Paul said that we should rejoice.

“In Arad, for instance, for almost three years they have been hounding the believers there at their services, in front of their homes,” Bass, an American Jew with Israeli citizenship, said.

  46. Red, if Howard Phillips hadn’t made that speech attacking Keyes none of this would be happening in the first place. Also, at the Reform Party meeting the Florida party walked out, they might still be interested in naming someone else.

  47. I said weeks ago that I thought both the Keyes and Baldwin supporters in California should be circulating petitions. It would be nice toi hve them both on the ballot

As someone who has at various times worked with both Keyes and Phillips, I was distressed to hear of Howard’s vicious remarks about Alan. I think those remarks are part of the problem.

  48. Mark Seidenberg Says:
    July 22nd, 2008 at 8:28 pm
” Jim King has given you disinformation”

Ya see, Glalvester, the bottom line is that
San Bernardino County’s Jim King was clue less
a decade ago, he was clue less yesterday, he
was clue less today, he will be clue less
tomorrow, and he will probably be clue less
    in the after life……

    Well DOCUMENTED facts…..

    Sad to say……

  49. “Red, if Howard Phillips hadn’t made that speech attacking Keyes none of this would be happening in the first place.”

Michael, what are you suggesting? That if Phillips hadn’t made the speech then Keyes would have quietly accepted defeat, or that without the speech Keyes would have won. I know the latter is not true. I highly doubt the former is.

    Please elaborate.

Timmer, what part of the “vicious” speech was untrue?

  50. As the Vice-Chairman of the REAL American Independent Party in California the following is my response to comment # 57 above and also partially to the complete and damn liar Mark Seidenberg in comment # 46 :

    1) Mark – We hired a professional parlimentarian for the Los Angeles convention. He will certify that our procedures followed the California Election Code, the American Independent Party by-laws, and Roberts Rules of Order. God damn you, Mark Robinson, and Ed Noonan for your never ending lies. I am completely sickened by your endless lying.

    2) The by-laws of the AIP allow a majority of the central committee to call a convention and this was done resulting in the Los Angeles convention of 6-28 & 29. This convention and the resulting election of officers, including myself, were completely legal and in compliance with AIP by-laws, the Election Code, and Roberts Rules of Order as was confirmed by a professional parlimentarian that was hired to monitor our convention to ensure that we would be in complaince with all Codes and by-laws. Ed Noonan and his fellow liars and traitors planned a subsequent ” convention ” on 7-4 & 5 in Sacramento because he planned on unilaterally declaring that anyone voting against his side was ineligible to vote. He would hence stack the deck and declare that his faction of liars won. In Los Angeles we would have allowed any of the rats to attend and vote as we had our professional parlimentarian to ensure fairness but Ed knew that unless he controlled the vote he would lose. Hence he could only have his fake ” convention ” in Sacramento where the plan was to disqualify his opponents from voting by having the liar Mark Robinson act as ” Parlimentarian ” to control the vote and support Eds’ unilateral declarations in stopping voting by his opponents.

    3) Keyes told Ed early on that he would stack the convention with 500 of his supporters in order to steal the AIP away from the CP and into Keyes fake party. The attendance at the fake Sacramento ” convention ” was 19 including our spies. The attendance in Los Angeles was 45. The fake ” convention ” in Sacramento added proxies to bring their number to 47. Our professional parlimentarian advised us that the Election Code and AIP by-laws did not allow for the use of proxies so they were hence not allowed in Los Angeles but were allowed at the liars fake ” convention ” in Sacramento.

    4) On Friday 6-27 the Noonan rats had a online/phone ” convention ” ( totally against both the Election Code and the AIP by-laws ) where they disaffiliated from the CP and joined Keyes fake/rat party. Only Noonan supporters ( all 5 of them including Ed ) were notified and no other central committee members were informed. After this ” convention ” they filed a disaffiliation document with the Secretary of States office. A totally fake document produced by a completely illegal ” convention ” as a cheap stunt to file papers first as they knew that the legal Los Angeles convention would reaffiliate with the CP. This was a action done by complete liars.

    5) For my extended answer to comment # 57 regarding Alan Keyes see – thirdpartywatch.com/2008/07/22/3589

  51. I am the Vice Chairman and National Committeeman of
the American Independent Party. It is a fact that
Dr. Don Grundmann was present at my elections and
also voted for me. Grundmann is now giving disinformation.

I was elected Chairman of the Orange County Central
Committee of AIP on July 14, 2008 at the Orange
County Superior Courthouse in Santa Ana, CA. This
    County Central

  52. So Don, what do you really think? Don, Ed, Larry, and all the other bonafide AIP/Baldwin people should consider the old saying: “Never argue with an idiot because he’ll drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.”

  53. Will the AIP-Baldwin faction go to court or is the ballot decision from the Sec’y of State regarding Keyes still have a chance to be reversed? What are the deadlines — from the Sec’y of State and the courts — before ballots are printed?

  54. “Keyes told Ed early on that he would stack the convention with 500 of his supporters in order to steal the AIP away from the CP and into Keyes fake party. ” If this is true, Keyes certainly has not demonstrated that he is a born again Christian. Therefore, I would urge all Christians not to vote for such a bad example of a Christian that apparently goes around whoring(for compensation) himself out(Israel Shrill) and stealing elections. Keyes should repent and God will forgive his sins.

  55. First, I hit the submit comment to soon in error. I will now start a new.

This
County Central Committee meeting was called by the
registrar of voters for the County of Orange.

I was the elected chairman for the 2008 California
State Convention of the American Independent Party.
The convention took place at the California Secretary of State Building in Sacramento, CA on
    July 5, 2008.

Dr. Grundmann in his disinformation mode states at
#62, point 2 the following: “The by-laws of the AIP
allow a majority of the central committee to call a
convention and this was done resulting in the Los
Angeles in the Convention of 6-28 & 29.”

The California Election Code limits conventions to
a location within Sacramento. See Election Code
7608(b) and 7620. The state central committee did
not convene to call a convention in Los Angeles.
Only eight members of the state central committee
sua sponte call for a “convention” in Los Angeles.
Going by Dr. Grundmann math, if the number 8 was a
majority, that would place the entire state central
committee at 15 or less. We know that Dr. Grundmann in an earlier post place the entire number of the state central committee at nine.
Dr. Grundmann therefore may not have a clue as
to the number of persons on the State Central
Committee. The truth is the State Central Committee did meet and designated the auditorium
of the California Secretary of State Building in
Sacramento. That Convention took place on July 5,
2008. Dr. Grundmann was a delegate to that convention, he spoke at the convention about “30
    pieces of silver etc.”

Dr. Grundmann then goes on to state that this (bogus)Los Angeles Convention of June 28 and 29, 2008, “and the resulting elected officers, including myself, were completely legal and in compliance with AIP by-laws, Election Code, and
Roberts Rules of Order as was confirmed by a professional parlimentarian that was hired to monitor our convention to ensure that we would be in complaince (sic.) with all Codes and by-laws.”
If that be the case you should ask for your money
back. Officer of the American Independent Party are elected only at the State Central Committee.
They are not elected within a convention. So now
I know how you and Jim King make your bogus claims
on being officers, viz., by being elected at a
bogus convention. Therefore, stop using that false
title now, it may come to haunt you later.

I do not have the time to go on and give a refutation on the other disinformation by Dr.
Gundmann now. I should have some time later to
continue with a refutation to the Grundmann disinformation.

Sincerely, Mark Seidenberg, Vice Chairman, American
    Independent Party.

  56. According to Flashreport, “while Mark Seidelberg was living in Washington, D.C. during the Reagan Administration, two agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation were apparently concerned enough about Mark to unfairly detain and cuff him at his apartment at the same time a White House State Dinner honoring Mikhail Gorbachov was held. Mark’s unfortunate detention was the subject of two articles in the Wall Street Journal.”
Do we really want somebody like this to be Vice Chair?

  57. ” Mark Seidenberg Says:
    July 24th, 2008 at 5:09 am
I am the Vice Chairman and National Committeeman of
the American Independent Party. It is a fact that
Dr. Don Grundmann was present at my elections and
also voted for me. Grundmann is now giving disinformation.”

Response : When Mark first ran for Vice-Chairman I probably voted for him simply because there was no other candidate and especially because I did not suspect his true purpose in being with the party. That was 2 years ago. I now know that he is, and always has been, a Republican operative who was waiting for the right moment to betray and destroy the party as he aided in destroying the Reform Party. He is a complete, utter, and continuous liar.

  58. I am the Vice Chairman of the American Independent Party. Dr. Don Grundmann can not stop with his disinformation. He states “I now know that he (Mark Seidenberg) is, and always has been, a Republican operative, who was waiting for the right moment to betray and destroy the party as he aided in destroying the Reform Party.”

What will the next disinformation out of Dr. Grundmann?

I am not a “Republican operative”. I have not been
a Republican for over 4 years. I would place myself as a recovering “Republican”. I have no
clue how I aided in destroying the Reform Party,
other than no joining them. Bottom line is Dr.
Grundmann can not stop with the disinformation.

Let’s by-pass Dr. Grundmann and work for a Alan Keyes and Wiley Drake ticket in 2008.

  59. Let’s sue for a Baldwin-Castle ticket – and if we can’t get the nomination, let’s by-pass this traitor Seidenberg and work for a Baldwin-Castle write-in campaign.

Keyes should be ashamed of himself for splitting the only truly conservative party out there. I’m sotry I ever voted for him in 2000.

  60. False arrests happen all the time in the fascist post WWII Amerika. Noble prize winner Martin Luther King Junior [and Nelson Mandelia] and Ganhdi and other heroes have been ‘arrested’] big deal…

All kinds of terrific people have been falsely arrested!

    Like me…..

  61. Yes, Don Lake, I meant Mark Seidenberg. I do notice that your heroes are liberals. Liberalism is a mental disorder. Apparently, you have that disorder.

  62. Peter Gemma and Doremus Jessup :

Donald R Lake, leave homo sexuals alone, leave pregnant women alone, keep my spirituality safe and your religion at home, a loyal AIP/ US Tax Payers Party/ so called Constitution Party activist?

While I appreciate Doctor Grundmann’s and Ed Noonan’s commitment to abused veterans, unlike the rest of AIP/ CP, the last thing to ‘win me over’ is more Reform Party steer manure……

Jim Gilchrist Ordered to Pay Over $18,000 in Attorneys’ Fees to
    the Patriots He Sued, Bringing Total to Over $27,000;
Main Case Against Gilchrist Will Proceed in Superior Court

Santa Ana, Calif. – August 27, 2008 – Judge Randell Wilkinson of the Orange
County Superior Court today handed down double blows against Minuteman founder
    Jim Gilchrist.

On the heels of the dismissal of his defamation suit against Minutemen Deborah
Courtney, Marvin Stewart and Paul Sielski last month, the Court ordered Gilchrist to
pay the Patriots he sued $18,888.13 in attorneys’ fees.

“We are elated,” said their attorney, Daniel F. Lula of Payne & Fears LLP in Irvine.
“Recently Gilchrist has claimed that his defamation suit is only ‘in abeyance’ and he
‘can bring it back.’ The Court’s ruling today puts the lie to Gilchrist’s wishful
    thinking,” Lula added.

Barbara Coe of the California Coalition for Immigration Reform, who is represented
by attorney David Klehm of Santa Ana, was previously awarded $9,100 in attorneys’
fees. This brings the total awards against Gilchrist to over $27,000.

Chelene Nightingale of Save Our State and Brook Young of Immigration Watchdog,
who were also sued by Gilchrist, currently have motions to strike set for hearing later
in September. If successful, Nightingale and Young will also be awarded attorneys’
    fees.

Judge Wilkinson also rejected Gilchrist’s motion to dismiss the main case against
him, Minuteman Project, Inc. v. Gilchrist. That suit alleges that Gilchrist breached
his fiduciary duty by transferring Minuteman Project funds and property to his new
corporation, “Jim Gilchrist’s Minuteman Project, Inc.” without board approval. This
case will now proceed against Gilchrist in Superior Court, where he will finally be
forced to disclose how much the Minuteman Project received and where the money
    went.

Gilchrist’s vindictive and retributive behavior against fellow patriots has deeply
disturbed many in the anti-illegal immigration movement. The recent rulings against
Gilchrist and his associate Stephen Eichler should be heeded as a warning to engage
others on the issues, not attempt to use litigation to squelch dissent.

The Minuteman Project was founded in early 2005 to secure America’s borders by
means of civilian volunteer observers. Incorporated in mid-2005 as a Delaware
nonprofit corporation, the Minuteman Project is governed by a board of directors
    under applicable law.

  64. 10/06/08

I have been an overjoyed-for-its-existence, (minor) financial contributor to the Constitition Party since the days of GHW Bush’s running. Today, After making a $25 contribution to AIP, whom I assumed was backing CP’s Chuck Baldwin, I suddenly discover the candidate-chaos going on in the AIP via the above blog. I am a Chuck Baldwin supporter, proud of CP’s God glorifying “got it right” platform, and will write in Mr. Baldwin’s name on my ballot this November 4, if necessary.
