Ohio Libertarian Party is Safely on the Ballot

The Ohio Secretary of State, Jennifer Brunner, has decided not to appeal last week’s U.S. District Court order putting the Libertarian Party on the ballot. This will be the first time any party, other than the Democratic and Republican Parties, has appeared on the ballot in Ohio since 2000.

  1. Wow this is truly great news. Next money bomb is AUGUST 5th check out http://www.barrbomb.com
We need your support to break through .

I believe Barr has the most potential in breaking through or at least opening up the political system, raise the issues, push the agenda, raise membership within the party, achieve automatic ballot access for the next election thus savings resources next time around to actually campaign.

  2. I wonder what the long-term viability of the ruling is.

The LPO ostensibly is now a “minor party” under Ohio law, which gives them even easier access to the ballot than any major party. Unfortunately if Mr. Barr does not poll 5% of the vote, the LPO will cease to be a party again and will be forced to repetition.

Of course this is under current law, much of which has been ruled unconstitutional. I’d be interested in any theories as to how this will turn out after the election.

  3. With your support Bob Barr will get 5% of the vote .
Please donate $5 today, only $5 is all it takes from everyone to move mountains.

  4. This may end up having an impact on the CP as well. Our petitions have been turned in as an independent slate (nearly 12,000 for the 5,000 indy requirement). There may be justification for our ticket having the party label as well under this case. We’ll see, but surely the CP ticket of Baldwin/Castle will be on the ballot in Ohio. We are just waiting for them to finish the verification process.

  5. Sweet! If I can’t get kat swift to run as an independent, and the voting age is suddenly lowered, I’ll vote for him!
