Any news on whether someone will be taking video of the debate/forum? It would be nice if that could be put on YouTube eventually!

Best wishes to Uncle Ralph…..

Thank you for saying that, Don!

Any questions you would like asked of any of these four people I will try to accommodate this weekend…(as long as I can tolerate it…)

I’m crossing my fingers for Ralph as well…

It would be nice if someone could ask them there stances on gay rights, the War on Drugs and what Nader might do after the election if he does get 5%. If he got 5% would he found a new party?

That question was posed to Ralph in the conference call this weekend but not in the context of receiving 5% of the popular vote.
Nader responded that he didn’t have any such plans at this time.

The above response left me with the impression that Nader will take this campaign as far as it will go but once it is over he is over.

Ralph’s made it clear that he’s going to use this campaign to springboard into 2009 several times, but before we go there, we first need a campaign that will inspire action into 2009.
I’m pulling for Ralph for PFP nominee!

With all of his MANY faults he leaves the others in the dust….sad to say!
Once again the presidential field is like a silent western movie actor: “Slim Pickin’s”

Is it confirmed that Nader will be there? On his website there is no mention of it on the event page. I hope he is there because I am sure the Peace and Freedom Party will write him off if he is not.

Nader will be there.
August 1st, 2008 at 8:11 am
At the house party/conference call last week, we were told that Nader and Matt Gonzalez would both be there and that they are taking this very, very seriously. If you look at the events listed on the Nader / Gonzalez site, you’ll see that they are all in the vicinity of the PFP convention.

Mike,
What does Nader mean by springboading into 2009? Does he mean citizen action groups that are watchdogs on Congress like he has talked about or a potential run at another office?

The Nader-Gonzalez Campaign and the Peace and Freedom Party of California are already coordinating on planning for the 2010 elections in several states.
August 1st, 2008 at 12:50 pm
How would the Nader-Gonzalez campaign with the Peace and Freedom Party though? Would Nader himself run or Gonzalez or will they endorse candidates for offices?

Subject: Memo from Nader National Ballot Access Coordinator on Building
National Presence for the Peace and Freedom Party
Michael Richardson, National Ballot Access Coordinator, Nader for President
2008, has spoken with C.T. Weber, and offered to on a pro-bono basis to help
the Peace and Freedom Party qualify in an additional 8-9 states in time for
the mid-term elections in 2010–all of which would not require large
expenditures of resources for the Party to organize.
As a note of assurance, Michael Richardson and any other Nader people that
may assist with this effort, will work with the existing core of the Peace
and Freedom Party so that Peace and Freedom Parties set up in other states
will be organically connected with the present Peace and Freedom Party, in
line with the resolution passed at the last State Central Committee meeting.
Full Details of the Memo can be obtained from Kevin Akin or C.T. Weber.

Phil,
I would love to see another party established in Alaska with progressive ideals. The Green Party is now defunct in Alaska so they are no longer an option for me.
I know a person that has extensive political connections and name recongnition in Alaska that is tired of the Democrats and she is supporting Nader this year. She was the President of the National Headstart Association and has worked with Senators, Congressman, Governors, etc. She may not win an election but she may just get enough support to get a new party ballot access. Please, what can we do in Alaska to get involved?
August 1st, 2008 at 5:20 pm
I just read the petitioning chart and I have one question. It says Nader is seeking a nomination in Oregon but which party; Pacific Greens or Oregon Independent Party?
August 1st, 2008 at 6:19 pm
More than likely, the Independent Party.

Is anyone else having problems accessing the site that is supposed to have the live blogging from the P&F convention?
August 1st, 2008 at 10:49 pm
It is interesting that when one clicks on “More Phil Sawyer” above, it does not go to my e-mail address; it goes to Don Lake’s Citizens for a Better Veterans Home organization. Thanks anyway, Don, for the publicity.
Laine: Please e-mail me at philsawyer8@msn.com and we can discuss the question that you asked me. Thanks!

day’s activities are just wonderful !
[Of course this is my brutal honest opinion
and not just comrade - hype! Feels good
doesn't it........]
August 2nd, 2008 at 12:22 pm
Oh YOUR NOTE was also blogged on a half a dozen other sites….
August 2nd, 2008 at 8:52 pm
Hey Don: It can’t be “comrade – hype” anyway because you are no longer in the Party (Peace and Freedom). We are friends but not, at the present, comrades!
August 4th, 2008 at 9:52 pm
Nader won the Peace and Freedom Party nomination. The vote was Ralph Nader 46 votes, Gloria La Riva 27 votes, Brian Moore 10 votes, and Cynthia McKinney 6 votes.
