Associated Press Story on McCain Endorsement by Reform Party is Misleading

On Saturday, October 11, friends and supporters of Frank MacKay held a meeting in Hicksville, New York, and endorsed John McCain for president. Frank MacKay is state chair of the Independence Party of New York, which has already nominated McCain for president.

Organizers of the meeting then put out a press release, saying that the meeting was a national meeting of the Reform Party. The press release said 27 states participated, but the press release did not mention that most of the people participating in the meeting who were not New Yorkers were participating via conference call.

The Reform Party is ballot-qualified in four states. The Florida, Louisiana and Mississippi Reform Parties participated in another national meeting of the Reform Party in Dallas on July 18-20. That meeting nominated Ted Weill for president. The Mississippi Reform Party certified Weill for the ballot. The Louisiana Reform Party attempted to do so, but was thwarted by the same circumstances that also caused the Libertarian and Socialist Parties to fail to get on the ballot for president. The Florida Reform Party decided not to place anyone on the ballot for president. And the Kansas Reform Party nominated Chuck Baldwin for president in June.

None of the ballot-qualified Reform Parties have any connection with the meeting in Hicksville, New York, that endorsed McCain. Nevertheless, the Associated Press naively reported that “The” Reform Party had endorsed McCain. The Associated Press story has a link to www.reformpartyusa-ag.org. That web page is controlled by Jerry Heinemann of West Virginia, who has his own faction of the national Reform Party, the “Reorganized” Reform Party. Heinemann does not support McCain for president. The AP story will probably be corrected soon to link to www.reformpartyusa.org, the webpage controlled by Frank MacKay. The original Reform Party webpage, www.reformparty.org, is controlled by the people who organized the Dallas national convention in July, but their webpage is currently not operating.

The AP story also says “The Reform Party was founded by supporters of Ross Perot’s presidential run in 1992.” That sentence is also misleading; it implies that the party was founded in 1992. The party was founded by Perot himself (he thought of the idea and he thought of the party name) in September 1995.

Here is the 5-page Texas court order from August 2008, saying that the Dallas convention is the actual national convention.

Associated Press Story on McCain Endorsement by Reform Party is Misleading — No Comments

  1. The Reform Party does not endorse McCain for President. The AP should be ashamed of themselves for printing what someone said instead of checking out the facts. The truth is that Frank MacKay can not speak for the Reform Party as his “party” does not exist, due to the fact he is not a member of the Reform Party, neither is Heinemann. Real parties run candidates and have ballot access. The Reform Party states run candidates and have ballot access.

  2. I would think that what happened is that Messer MacKay or one of his Brownshirts, Blare or Bambey faxed a clever looking “statement” from Fuhrer’s HQ to the AP saying that Mccain had been endorsed.

The fact that a conflicting web site also appeared on the article shows there was little fact checking by the AP.

I do think it is interesting that:

Messer MacKay appared at a official Hearing in Kansas and told Kansas officials that Messer Baldwin of the Constitution Party is the Reform Party Nomineee, now in New York at his back yard Brownshirt Rally he says McCain of the Republican Party is the Reform Party nominee. So he has placed conflicting nominess of two other political Parties as the Reform Party Nominee.

I might also add that he also attempted to get his water boys, Blare and Bambey, to remove the prior Reform Party Chairman for merely saying nice things about a candidate of one of the two Major Parties, and now Big Mac MacKay has stated he has, on behalf of the Reform Party officially endorsed the Nominee of one of the Major Parties.

It should also be noted that Messer MacKay promised all those fellows in the Reform Party that he had unlimited access to unlimited Billionares so that the Reform Party would have a well funded Preseidential candidate of their own, hmmm, so much for his unlimited promises.

I would hope others besides me would wake up and see this fraud for what it is.

This man is either ill, corrupt or both. He is definately void of ethics, truth and integrity.

I see where the Editor of this Blog also notes that those attending the MacKay Backyard Bar B Que were all on the telephone. This is just like the so called Blare telephone Convention of 2007 where MacKay purchased his first Reform Party title by giving Messser Bambey funds at his apartment building, funds that have never been accounted for. Perhaps Messer Bambey’s Dry Cleaner found them in pockets of Bambey’s overcoat.

  3. Alex Englemann:

    1. Where did you get the idea that “messer” is a word?

    2. How do you decide which words to capitalize?

  4. This is off topic, but I’m not sure if this item has already been mentioned here or not.

I found this on the internet, while looking for something else.

Interesting article about how some Republicans are running as Greens, due to souring of the Repub brand:

  5. Surely no one is or can be surprised the Associated Press got it wrong.
AP often can’t even get Republicans and Democrats right and AP barely recognizes there are other parties.

  6. My Dear Messer Prindle:

When I was attending school in the UK, many, many years before you were hatched, the word “messer” was frequestly used, and those of my generation still use it.

You may continue to use Reality Television as a basis of vocabulary, I shall not.

In the mean time, until you know what you are talking about, you should refreain from editing other people’s posts.

    Cheers.

  7. I thought you were calling him “messer” because he messed things up.

Seriously, are you sure you aren’t confusing messer with Messrs. which is the plural of Mister?

  8. Alex, I have no trouble with your prose. I not so secretly assured that those complaining or questioning such will never be satisfied.

Be aware that I have been told that Nader/ Gonzales is the non ballot access Reform Party of California P2008 ticket. John Blare, an American whom highest loyalty belongs to any one in or near Jerusalem, has immorally kept the legitimate slate of officers off of the http://www.ca.gov site.

Again, Mister [John Coffey, John Bambey, John Blare, Valli Sharpe Geisler, Frank MacKay?] does not like what you are saying and syntax is not the REAL issue.

  9. Generally, when a word is frequently used by people from any generation, it is in the dictionary. “Messer” is not. I think the comment #8 is correct; the word you are talking about is “Messrs.”

I am generally not one to correct others’ vocabulary and style errors, but it really gets my goat when people try to make their writing seem more heightened and authoritative through devices like fancy-sounding made-up words, Arbitrary Capitalization, etc.

  10. I shall no longer humor Messer Prindle’s over blown sense of self importance or perseived sennse of education.

What gets my goat is people’s failure to address the primary issue by creating bogus issues such as attempting to correct other people’s speech and writing.

The topic of this Thread is a fraudulent meeting called by Messer MacKay and a fraudulent endorsement by Messer MacKay of John McCain in the name of the Reform Party again by MacKay. The topic is not my writing and speech style which I have practiced for a period of time longer than which Messer Prindle has been alive.

Perhaps he should go back to his adult books and Reality TV Shows for his attentiion span. He seems to be following their lines of logic which is to change the subject so a to detract.

  11. I find “TrueReformist”, an oxymoron if there ever was one, quite amusing since it’s true that no vote was ever taken in any formal manner among all SPOs claiming to be “Reform Party” regarding supporting any given candidate for the 2008 elections, thus each legitimate State Party Organization (SPO) was on its own whom it would support in 2008 — and that as for the NEW RPUSA under the 2004 Charter & Bylaws, at least a vote was taken to support NADER/GONZALES since their ticket was more in conformity with the “10 POINTS of REFORM for AMERICA” as found at !

Now I wonder if “TrueReformist” (TR) even knows just what is meant by the term “legal line of continuity” as to just what current “RPUSA-faction” actually has such a legal line of continuity? And I also wonder if TR knows the difference between a legitimate SPO and a PAC (political action committee) and a social club playing politics? Then comes the #1 Question: What constitutes a legal national political party?

It so happens that the Final Order & Judgment in the Tallahassee Case last 25 June 2007 specifically identified the “NEW RPUSA”, reconstituted under the 2004 Charter & Bylaws, as legitimate — especially since ONLY legitimate SPOs are eligible for participation! And in case TR is ignorant of the fact — the West Virginia Reform Party is a legitimate SPO and listed on the official WV – SOS website as a “minor party” in West Virginia — and actually lists “yours truly” as the current chairman!

Thus what TR said about “Heinemann” is incorrect — but what has been said about Frank MacKay is correct — MacKay as chairman of the Independence Party of New York (IPNY) officially DISAFFILIATED from the RPUSA in early SEP 2000, and reconfirmed it in writting prior to the 2002 Denver meeting — and the IPNY has never requested re-affiliation nor has the IPNY ever taken a new vote to rescind the vote taken to disaffiliate in 2000! Thus MacKay’s claims are totally bogus along with those of John Blare who is no longer a legal representative or spokesman for the Reform Party of California!

There has been and remains an OPEN INVITATION for all legitimate Reform SPOs to REUNITE THE RPUSA by simply adopting the “Resolution for Substitution” and completing a list of duly elected National Committee Members as found at ! Skip Foley, Chairman/Maine Reform Party, is currently the Chairman of the Reform Party National Committee (RPNC), reconstituted under the 2004 Charter & Bylaws, that replaced the 2003 RPUSA Constitution and all preceding “constitutions”!

It’s really not such a long walk after all….thanks….jerry heinemann, NatSec/RPNC
