Trent, we have this thing about "raising millions". Raising all this money for campaigns, in such an scary economic time that we have! Dave is so disgusted with the millions his opponents are spending that he's actually taken off his donation page from his website. He's been able to get his 7% recent polling rates, without asking for a lot of money. His goal, believe it or not, is not going over the financial reporting threshhold. With the Internet, there's really no sense in sending out expensive in-your-face mailers and TV commercials. Our family lives within our means, his campaign runs within its means, and he would govern our nation within its means. The Bible says to "owe man nothing but love." Its not a good rule to go in debt. Imagine if the other candidates did the same thing!

Slovenec's fundraising list is one of the most impressive ones for a third-party candidate I'v ever seen. He raised 1 million (I believe)from over 10,000 donors.

Actually, SurveyUSA had Dave Brownlow at 8% twice! http://www.pollster.com/polls/or/08-or-sen-ge-svm.php. Although Dave is 100% pro-life, he is now polling at 5% on a "progressive" radio station (www.620KPOJ.com). He's an anomaly! THe true conservatives like him because he's pro-life; and the true anti-foreign interventionists like him too!

Yes, Slovenec was the Republican nominee against Dennis Kucinich in 1998 in the 10th district. He got 33% in a two-person race against Kucinich. Many individuals get their feet wet in elections, by running as minor party nominees. Then later they become major party nominees. This is one of the little-noticed functions of minor parties in the US.
