No Minor Party Presidential Debate on October 19, but One is Likely for October 23

October 19th, 2008

No minor party/independent presidential candidate will take place on October 19 (Sunday). However, there is reason to believe that one will occur on October 23 (Thursday), in Washington, D.C. It is believed that two of the invited presidential candidates have made a deep commitment to that debate. Every presidential candidate who is on the ballot in states containing a majority of electoral votes is invited. More details for the October 23 debate will be announced at a press conference on October 21 at 10 a.m. on the ground floor of the National Press Club.

Which two? Is this sourced anywhere, or did the organizers and/or campaigns tell you directly?

Just a guess… Cynthia McKinney and Chuck Baldwin. They need all the publicity they can garner and their fundraising is far behind Bob Barr and especially Ralph Nader.

What a effort could have been made in P2008!

    What we are reduced to…

Any chance that Barr will join this debate? As far as I’m concerned he has been the party pooper of the Third Party / Independent efforts this year.

Still, if he wants to debate ONLY Ralph Nader, I hope that he and Nader will put that together.
