On October 9, many news sources that are hostile to Barack Obama announced that Barack Obama was a member of the New Party in the 1990’s. These news sources then say that the New Party was “socialist” and sometimes they even say the New Party was “Marxist”. Here is a sample.
The New Party changed its name to the Working Families Party in 1998, the same year it set out to run candidates. The Working Families Party is so mainstream, it mostly supports Democratic nominees, but this year it has also cross-endorsed Republican candidates for state legislature in every state in which it is running legislative candidates. The party has legislative candidates in New York, Delaware, and Connecticut. All three of these states permit fusion. The following statistics refer to state legislative races. In New York the Republican nominees are Thomas Morahan, George Maziarz, Fred Thiele, James Conte, Joseph Seledino, Robert Barra, David McDonough, Thomas Alfano, Anthony Nunziato, Dede Scozzafava, and John Kaczorowski.
Most of the Working Families Party nominations go to Democrats. The Working Families Party stands for the same political goals that the AFL-CIO stands for. Some Republicans in state legislatures are friendly to labor’s goals, so the Working Families Party is generally willing to cross-endorse such Republicans.
The Working Families Party cross-endorsed Al Gore in New York in 2000, John Kerry in 2004, and Barack Obama this year.

I very much appreciate Richard’s focus on what the NP/WFP really is. We’re not going to hear very much truth about that organization for next few days. But I don’t think the headline is correct. It’s not massive ignorance. It’s knowing, willful distortion. These folks know that the NP was pretty mainstream as small parties go. But they have found some mud and are slinging it in the hope that it will stick. That’s just how two-party, winner-take-all politics works.

Obama is a representative of the Democratic People. However, Obama must meet the Qualifications specified for the United States Office of the President, which he must be a “natural born†citizen. Additionally, Obama must be at least a “naturalized†citizen to hold his Office of U.S. Senator for Illinois. Unfortunately, Obama is not a “natural born†citizen, nor is he a “naturalized†citizen. Just to name one of the problems, Obama lost his U.S. citizenship when his mother married an Indonesian citizen, Lolo Soetoro who legally “acknowledged†Obama as his son in Indonesia and/or “adopted†Obama, which caused Obama to become a “natural†Indonesian citizen. Stanley Ann Dunham Soetoro relocated herself and Obama to Indonesia wherein Obama’s mother naturalized in Indonesia. This is proven by Obama’s school record with the student’s name as “Barry Soetoroâ€, Father’s name: Lolo Soetoro, M.A., and Citizenship: Indonesia.

Many of the Republicans listed above that were supposedly endorsed the the (Socialist) New Party are RINOS Republicans In Name Only. I know of Charles Oberle of Delaware. The guy is a Democrat in Republican clothing.
Of course, the Socialists would endorse someone like Oberle.

Talk about a steamy load…pew ewwww ! I attended a number of Left Coalition meetings in Los Angeles in 1994 that included New Party Participants. DSA was coming unglued at the time with the election of the DLC hack Clinton. BTW the New Party modelled themselves after the Canadian NDP. There was little Socialist or Marxist about them. Every time someone spoke Fusion, usually one of their own, the rest of the group would salivate like Pavlov’s Dogs. They all came across as a bunch of Democrat Suck-Ups. There is little doubt in my mind the New Party was nothing more than a rump organization set up by the Democrats to scoop up wayward members who were disaffected with the party and neutralize them with futile projects or funnel them back to the mothership the souls they could save.

Take all day. Take from early morning untill they shut down. Hey if you can’t take all day then take an hour or so. Slow the process down.

When the GOP held its convention after the filing deadlines in nine states, Democrats in every one of these states helped the Republicans change the law so that Bush could get on the ballot. They will help Bush get on the ballot, but try to keep Nader and the Greens off. Shows you who their real enemies are.
I know I can get of topic, onto broader ideological themes, but all this trolling and spamming by the McCain supporters is really out of line. I oppose censorship, but I don’t realy like seeing things hijacked either.
On the other hand, if all these spurious rumors were shown to be constitutionally true, abt both McCain and Obama, and they were both excluded from the Nov ballot, that would make the race a great deal more interesting, as far as who the remaining candidates would be.

Today’s news is that the McCain campaign is trying to link Obama to the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN), a well established organization which I believe to be measurably to the left of NP/WFP, although still not especially radical.
ACORN has been in the news because of allegations that its voter registration drives have included names of people who were ineligible or did not exist. While Republicans have been trying to build this into a major voter fraud scandal, in fact all registration drives end up with a few invalid signatures. ACORN claims that it has cooperated with authorities to facilitate the prosecution of volunteers who ACORN itself thinks acted improperly.
If this mud sticks on Obama, it’s a double whammy. McCain’s operatives get a leftist (from where they sit, anyway) connection and an election fraud connection in one package.
With the conomy is collapsing, anything “leftist” taht can stick to the centrist Obama, can only help him. McCain and the GOP are a dead issue. The real problem is going to be keep the Democratic leadership in Congress from kowtowing to their corporate paymasters, and continue to prop up the sham of ponzi scheme, Reagan/Thatcher, capitalism.

The New Party is worse than mainstream,they are boring and illogical. Their total approach to politics is to support major party candidates while claiming we need a “new party.”
They claim Chicago Congressman Danny Davis as a member – a “New Party Democrat” and he voted for the bipartisan bailout for bankers & billionaires. So I guess they do have socialist tendencies, just like Bush and McCain and other Bail-out supporters.
In most places where the New Party was active (like Missoula MT) the name become a negative for people endorsed by the New Party. The New Party name went away but morphed into a new name, same people in places like Montana.
Why haven’t the source of Obama’s Money been traced. We know the 9/11 highjackers were funded by Saddam Hussein.
