Robert Schulz, chair of We the People Foundation, has published “An Open Letter” to Senator Barack Obama as a full-page ad in the Chicago Tribune of December 1. The Foundation’s webpage says it will run again in the same newspaper on December 3. See the open letter here, or just go to www.wethepeoplefoundation.org. Here it comes!

    ——————————————————————————–

12/1/08 – Mary Mitchell, with Chicago Sun-Times, has come out swinging, calling thousands upon thousands of concerned citizens ‘loonies’, comparing them to skinheads, and attacking the character of Robert Schulz, chairman of We the People. She, like many, have ignored the fact that there are 18 cases that have hit the courts all around the nation and 5 that have reached the Supreme Court. She also cannot provide an explanation as to why Obama has refused to answer the allegations, and ridiculously points to the fraud that Obama put up a few months ago on his website, and misrepresents what public officials said in Hawaii.

  2. This group is a notorius bunch of criminal tax protesters, many of whose followers have been convicted or are under indictment for tax evasion.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/We_the_People_Foundation

Lest you think tax protesters are cute or patriotic, remember we all pay their way. For these people to challenge anyone’s legitimacy is simply ludicrous.

The election is over. It is truly time to move on.

  3. LOL! The above poster obviously doesn’t believe in individual liberty.

All taxation is theft, and even going from a minarchist/constitutionalist arguement there is no need for the income tax.

We the Peoeple Foundation ( http://www.givemeliberty.org )is an outstanding group of REAL American freedom fighters.

If we were back in the 1700’s, the poster above would have been a Tory/Loyalist (to the British Monarchy) and would have considered the colonist who participated in the Boston Tea Party and then the American Revolution to be “tax cheats”.

  4. I am sure that the people at WTP mean well, and certainly the Tribune needed the advertising revenue, but this is probably the least effective way to keep Obama from exercizing the power he has gained through a competetive election.

In all the talk I have heard about Obama’s citizenship, I have not seen the affadavits that claim he was born in Kenya, and I understand his grandmother said something in her native language that has not been translated yet.

If the people at We the People want to protect our freedom, they should try to not embarrass themselves.

  5. Yes, Andy, the American revolutionaries were an ungrateful bunch of riff-raff. The Colonies were being asked to foot the bill for their defense against the French. If not for the might of the British Empire, they and you would be eating rich sauces, drinking great wines and taking five weeks of vacation. Why shouldn’t the 13 Colonies have been willing to pay the costs involved?

Besides, no taxation without representation implies the converse, no representation without taxation. Those like Mr Schultz who are unwilling to pay the costs of running the country should not have a say in how it is run. Period.

  6. Oh, and regarding Obama. He has followed the established procedures to qualify for the ballot in all 50 states, and has provided more documents than most of his 43 predecesors. Has anyone seen Andrew Jackson’s Birth Certificate? And what about Chester Arthur-he was most likely born in Canada. To require more from Obama than from the others is simply discrimination.

  7. Robert Schulz was the Libertarian Party candidate for Governor of New York in 1994. He won an important legal victory that year, requiring the state to provide a list of the registered voters to the Libertarian Party, even though it wasn’t ballot-qualified. He won the case pro se, Schulz v Williams 44 F 3d 48 (1994).

  8. Gene, the affidavits and tape have been online for weeks.

Google the WEB (not the News) for this line:

affidavit Shuhubia McRae Sarah Obama tape

One source of Reverend Shuhubia’s affidavit together with a transcript of the taped converstion with paternal grandma Sarah is at wethepeoplefoundation dot org .

There have been criticisms of Bishop Ron McRae (the other affidavit writer), but when you dig back far enough you’ll find the criticisms were unfounded and levied by someone you may not trust.

  9. I used to think that the issue about Obama’s eligibility to be POTUS was no big deal. But . . . then I could not understand why Obama wouldn’t just put it all to rest by releasing his birth certificate and the other relevant documents. Contrary to what his supporters claim, Obama has never produced his original birth certificate. What he has offered is a “Certificate of live Birth” which does not name the doctor or hospital who delivered him, only registers his birth. Why is Obama spending money fighting the umpteen lawsuits that keep popping up if he has nothing to hide? Full disclosure. Is that too much to ask for a man that promised change??

This web site has the best discussion of the issue that I have seen.

  10. Gene, here are both affidavits about Obama’s birthplace being Kenya.

    http://comments.blogware.com/Affidavit_20of_20Reverend_20Kweli_20Shuhubia.pdf

    http://comments.blogware.com/Affidavit_20of_20Bishop_20Ron_20McRae.pdf

To hear with your own ears a startling, apparently unintended, ‘affidavit’, listen to the Kenyan Ambassador Ogego saying, on the day after the election, that Obama’s birthplace is “already well known”! This part of the dialog begins about 12 minutes into Detroit WRIF radio’s interview of him.

    http://my.wrif.com/mim/?p=916

WorldNetDaily has two articles about the ambassador’s later denials:

    http://wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=82031

    http://wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=82060

Ambassador Ogego claims he was talking about Daddy Obama. But Ogego forgets that he also said Obama’s “paternal grandmother” is “still alive.” Maybe you could phone the ambassador and ask if he will invite this centenarian grandma to the inauguration. LOL

LOL! See, I told you so!

The government is like the maffia and taxes are like maffia extortion.

“Besides, no taxation without representation implies the converse, no representation without taxation. Those like Mr Schultz who are unwilling to pay the costs of running the country should not have a say in how it is run. Period.”

How about people run their own lives instead of being controlled by politicians and beauracrats? I can decide how to spend my own money better than any government “official” can.

Bob Schulz is a modern day hero.

  12. Have any of you naysayers actually been following this case? I have been reading 6-8 sources every day since August. This is much more involved than whether Obama was born in Kenya vs. Hawaii.

The SCOTUS will be reviewing the case this Friday, December 5th. The plot is thickening every day. Time for everyone to tune in so that they won’t be surprised when this finally hits the left-wing…uh, uh…main stream media.

  13. Gene, I tried to post links to both the affidavits about Obama’s birthplace being Kenya, but my post didn’t appear.

There is a third affidavit of sorts online. Search WorldNetDaily (WND) for the name of Kenya’s ambassador – Ogego – and, before you read the two reports, listen to the Detroit WRIF radio broadcast that is linked in both of them.

WND is mistaken about the date of the broadcast; the interview itself makes it clear that it took place one day after the election, not two.

The important thing is you will hear the Kenyan Ambassador Ogego saying that Obama’s birthplace in Kenya is “already well known”! This part of the dialog begins about 12 minutes into WRIF’s (Mike in the Morning) interview of him.

Ambassador Ogego claims he was talking about Daddy Obama. But Ogego forgets that he also said Obama’s “paternal grandmother” is “still alive.” Maybe the ambassador’s next refutation will be that he said ‘Eternal’ grandma?

  14. But the real burning question is: How do armchair constitutional crackpots decide which words to capitalize?

  15. Eric @11: Coin flips.

Mr. Reality @5: Obama did not qualify for the TX ballot (too late to file) but the TX SoS illegally put him on anyway. Ditto McCain.

  16. We could have avoided all of this if we had elected Bob Barr, Ralph Nader, or Chuck Baldwin.

  17. “The SCOTUS will be reviewing the case this Friday, December 5th.”

‘Oy-yay oy-yay, we’re the Supreme Court, and we’re considering Berg v. Obama.. ALL GLORY TO OBAMA’

    Drats, Obama’s hypnopowers strike again!

  18. The stupidity of this claim is staggering, but even if he was born in Kenya Obama would still be a natural born citizen. Obama’s mother was an American citizen, therefore Obama is a natural born citizen under the Immigration and Naturalization Act no matter where he was born. If this were not the case John McCain would have been inelligble.

  19. As someone who voted Obama (and one who recognizes the constitution), I am a little concerned at his reluctance to simply have this document made public.

  20. to #4. Mr Reality Obviously you have never read the Constitution or even care what it says, so you need to go and move to Europe.to #11 Mr Prindle people that follow the constitution are not crackpots,we just know the law of the land that is even above the supreme court and above the constitution is God`s Commandments, ditto for you moving to Europe if you don`t like the constitution.

  21. Just a buncha racists that are sorry their poor hating, handicapped executing, deficit happy, war mongering, non-negotiating, gay-bashing, Karl Rove fearing, callow, personally responsible for the economic collapse, opaque government, status quo, Bush loving candidate and his attack/lap dance dog from Seward’s folly didn’t win.

  22. Andy and friends:

So let me get this straight-you support a bunch of people who reject the 16th Amendment, whose language is crystal-clear, and oppose the income tax on spurious grounds, which have been rejected every single one of the many times they have come before judges. Yet these same people want use the Constitution they reject when it displeases them to challenge (without any facts) a person who got at least 67 million votes for President on the basis of an undefined term “natural-born”. By the way history is very clear on the fact that “natural-born” was inserted for the most foolish of reasons-Jefferson wanted to deny the presidency to his enemy Hamilton, who was born on the island of Nevis in the West Indies.

As for moving to Europe, I have lived there and elsewhere and many aspects of life there are better than the US (some are not, but many are). Most of you are too ignorant and xenophobic to even think of learning from other countries though.

  23. The problem is that while both parties swear to uphold the Constitution as the Supreme Law of the Land, neither side has been for a long time. Thus both sides throw dirt at the other calling them cheats. And they are both right! Sometimes you almost wonder if we wouldn’t be better off with no law so that at least we knew we lived in a state of anarchy. Which is more difficult, trying to live under the law which is constantly manipulated by both sides or no law and fending for yourself. But while the Constitution stands, I believe it ought to be followed. The best thing we can do is to become educated about it, educate others, and then vote only for leaders who will follow it or face immediate impeachment!

  24. Simple argument: If Obama swears to uphold the Constitution at his inauguration, but he violates the very rules of eligibility found in that document, isn’t he guilty of breaking his oath before he even begins.
Compare this to a marriage vow on one’s wedding day. Would you enter into the relationship if you knew the oath your spouse was going to say was a lie to begin with? What trust can their be? How long do you think this relationship will last? It’s over before it started because the promise is entered into under false pretenses.

  25. I don’t see why Obama can’t show the documents and get the WTP foundation to shut up (I want to make it clear btw that I don’t at all sympathize with the WTPF and they are clearly acting out of selfish motives and not to to uphold the constitution). If they find out he was born in Kenya then for the good of the country, the people, and the economy (whether the INA covers him or not) I say we make the exception. Otherwise we would be acting like a bunch of machines and not human beings who are supposedly capable of change and growth across situations. I do agree with Jason, that Obama should be honest no matter what the situation is with his birth.

    Andy and friends:

Of course I would support anyone who rejects the 16th amendment. All taxation is theft.

Furthermore, the 16th amendment is not so crystal clear. First of all, there is evidence that it was never properly ratified. Second of all, it is in conflict with another part of the constitution which forbids direct taxes on American citizens. Also, there are several court rulings which indicate that the income tax was meant for foreiners doing business in the US and Americans who derive profit from international commerce, NOT on the fruits of the labor of American citizens within the 50 states.

These things have not been rejected every single time they have come up in court. In fact, the Supreme Court ruled that the 16th amendment was a foreign revenue tarriff and that the 16th amendment conferred no new powers of taxation. They also ruled that the definition of “income” in the 16th amendment is defined as a corporate profit. These Supreme Court rulings have NEVER been overturned. Yes, there are lower courts that have ruled against this stuff, but that is because they are corrupt liars and are not in compliance with the Supreme Court rulings or the Constitution.

“Yet these same people want use the Constitution they reject when it displeases them to challenge (without any facts) a person who got at least 67 million votes for President on the basis of an undefined term ‘natural-born’.”

Just because 67 million people voted for Barrack Obama, it does not give him or them liscense to ignore the Constitution. There is evidence that Obama is not really a Natural Born American citizen and therefore he is not legally eligable to hold the office of President.

“By the way history is very clear on the fact that ‘natural-born’was inserted for the most foolish of reasons-Jefferson wanted to deny the presidency to his enemy Hamilton, who was born on the island of Nevis in the West Indies.”

Given that Alexander Hamilton was a big government guy (for his era) that had ties to the international banking cartel, I’d say that keeping him out of the office of the Presidency was a good thing.

  27. #22 Mr.Reality needs to know what he is talking about before he speaks! I agree with Andy #26 now read the case Law
    Brushaber v. Union Pacific Railroad, 240 U.S. 1 (1916)

    Stanton v. Baltic Mining Co.

    Pollock v. Farmers’ Loan & Trust Co.(1895)

  28. #26 Andy..

Alexander Hamilton wanted an all-powerful central government–and an all=powerful president (an American “King”) who would veto state laws, amongst other things.
