County Election Officials in Kentucky Arrested for Allegedly Fraudulently Changing Votes on Vote-Counting Machine

On March 19, several Clay County officials were arrested and charged with various federal crimes involving elections and election returns. Among those arrested were the Circuit Court Judge and the County Clerk. See this story from Bradblog. According to Bradblog, Clay County uses ES&S iVotronic vote-counting machines, which leave no paper trail.

Some of those arrested are Democrats, and some are Republicans. Clay County in November 2008 voted McCain 5,710; Obama 1,552; Nader 54; Barr 26; Baldwin 22.

County Election Officials in Kentucky Arrested for Allegedly Fraudulently Changing Votes on Vote-Counting Machine — 9 Comments

  1. This is another good example of why we must oppose NPV and prevent the adoption of any direct election of President and VP.

With NPV especially and with any direct election scheme, the incentive for fraud will increase a thousand fold.

Instead of cheating to change the outcome of a state, fraudulently changed votes could every vote in the NPV compact group of states.

To reduce fraud to its minimum, we must reduce the power of the impact of that fraud.

WE MUST adopt the MAINE/NEBRASKA ELECTORAL COLLEGE SYSTEM.

The Maine/Nebraska system of awarding electoral votes will reduce fraud to a minimum and guarantee that every voter’s voice counts MORE, in every state, since his voice will count both as an individual citizen but also in the two votes representing his/her state.

Only under the Maine/Nebraska system do all voters have equal representation along with every state having equal representation.

  2. Kentucky was the first state to go red. Obama knew he didn’t have any hope in KY, he didn’t even campaign here. No ads where bought for Kentucky. We had a peaceful pre election. I don’t understand this story about fraud. Was it for a local result possibly?

  3. Please omit the previous reply for this one:

Have you seen the 2006 documentary Hacking Democracy http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7926958774822130737? It is also available in 9 clips on Youtube.

Why were high-cost systems chosen the output of which could be easily altered–the results of which could were not verifiable? If to this you add the effect of organized voter fraud, the will of the people could be removed from the political process.

We would have the form of a republic without the self-governance of it, as in ancient Rome under Augustus Caesar, formerly Gaius Octavius born September 23, 63 B.C. The Roman government had tribunes of the people, senators, ect, but the real power resisted with Caesar. His Leibstandarte SS which was called the Praetorian Guard insured this arrangement.

How does our military feel about Barry Soetoro (a.k.a. Barack Hussein Obama)? Perhaps the following links give a hint.

Mr. Soetoro’s desire for his own security force is therefore understandable:

“We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fO-usAlqak

He’s apparently paying the military back, though, by going after its healthcare and taking other funds from the income of military families according to the link below:

News of this assault upon our military might well please the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades who provided security for Mr. Barack Hussein Obama during his visit to the West Bank. See the link below.

  4. It must have been local races.

In 2008, the surrounding counties of Jackson, Knox, Laurel, Leslie, and Owsley were 77.66% for McCain, while Clay County was 77.54%. It has about 1/2% of the statewide vote, which would correspond to about 3% of the vote in a congressional district race.

The indictments suggest two methods were used. In one case, voters were being paid for their votes. The election officials would then mark the ballot for them in a particular way. A paper trail would not help prevent this at all.

In the second case, voters were leaving the voting machine before casting their ballot. They would make their selections, and were presented a review screen; but would not actually cast their ballot. After they left, an election official would go to the voting booth and check the review screen, and either push the button that would actually cast the vote, if the voter had voted “right”; or change selections if the voter had made “errors” in their selection.

I’m not sure that a paper trail would help in this case either. If it was presented as part of the review process, perhaps. But if a voter can check a paper printout to verify his vote, and then change his vote, he must be able to get a printout of the changes as well.

So if Billy Bob marks his choices and gets a printout and then deposits that in some sort of ballot box, the election official could then go to the machine and press the cast ballot button, if no corrections were to be be made. Or if corrections were made, he could simply get another printout and deposit that in the ballot box.

  5. It saddens me to think that our country has become no better than a Third World country. Our election process has been overcome by fraud and corruption and we must do something now to stop this. We need to come together and contruct a voting process that cannot be tampered with and eliminate any and all lobbyists and as for the corrupt politicians, if found guilty of such crimes should have the stiffest of penalties placed upon them. I’d like to see mandatory sentences of a least 5 years in prison. This is the only way to stop these corrupt individuals.
