Mayor Bloomberg Settles Differences with N.Y. City Independence Party

This New York Times story says that Mayor Bloomberg is now assured of receiving the nomination of the Independence Party of New York city. Those leaders, Fred Newman, Jackie Salit, and Lenora Fulani, had originally been opposed to re-nominating Bloomberg in this year’s mayoral primary, because those leaders had been opposed to overturning city term limits. Mayor Bloomberg Settles Differences with N.Y. City Independence Party — No Comments

  1. I never really understood — from the party’s view — why they would turn their backs on a fairly popular candidate like Bloomberg.

He is probably their most successful candidate. His socially liberal-fiscal conservatism is probably a good fit for the state and he is generally well liked, at least what I hear from residents.

  2. Forget, please, “conservatism.” It has been, operationally, de facto, Godless and therefore irrelevant. Secular conservatism will not defeat secular liberalism because to God both are two atheistic peas-in-a-pod and thus predestined to failure. As Stonewall Jackson’s Chief of Staff R.L. Dabney said of such a humanistic belief more than 100 years ago:

“[Secular conservatism] is a party which never conserves anything. Its history has been that it demurs to each aggression of the progressive party, and aims to save its credit by a respectable amount of growling, but always acquiesces at last in the innovation. What was the resisted novelty of yesterday is today .one of the accepted principles of conservatism; it is now conservative only in affecting to resist the next innovation, which will tomorrow be forced upon its timidity and will be succeeded by some third revolution; to be denounced and then adopted in its turn. American conservatism is merely the shadow that follows Radicalism as it moves forward towards perdition. It remains behind it, but never retards it, and always advances near its leader. This pretended salt bath utterly lost its savor: wherewith shall it be salted? Its impotency is not hard, indeed, to explain. It is worthless because it is the conservatism of expediency only, and not of sturdy principle. It intends to risk nothing serious for the sake of the truth.”

Our country is collapsing because we have turned our back on God (Psalm 9:17) and refused to kiss His Son (Psalm 2).

PS – And “Mr. Worldly Wiseman” Rush Limbaugh never made a bigger ass of himself than at CPAC where he told that blasphemous “joke” about himself and God.

  3. Our country is collapsing because we’ve “refused to kiss God’s son?” I thought it was because of greed and a lack of financial oversight. Thank you for clarifying.
I should have realized, since it was, of course, the ACLU, the feminists, the gays, and the lesbians who were responsible for the World Trade Center attack. Jerry Falwell said so. It must be true.

BTW I’ll pass along your message to my godless wife that she is irrelevant and predestined to failure. Appreciate the heads-up on that one.

  4. Well, I think that the Republican Party is collapsing (it will be a minor-sized party by 2012). Whether or country is collapsing or not will depend upon if President Barack Obama can pull off another FDR and save the capitalist system. It may be too late for that, though, because imperialistic, monopoly capitalism has reached its peak and is now starting to collapse under its own weight.

Regarding the world as a whole, I think that it has turned its back on God. Jesus Christ will return (perhaps as soon as 2012 or even before) and He will create a paradise on earth.

  5. And what evidence do you have to support either of the statements in that second paragraph? Not that any of this has anything to do with Michael Bloomberg and the Independence Party…………why he wants to get in bed with the likes of Fred Newman and Lenora Fulani escapes me.

  6. The duopoly establishment makes it SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO difficult [nee: Ralph Nader, 1996, 2000, 2004, 2008] to reasonably get ballot access that behind the curtain games playing are a next to last resort………

Thx to all whom sent good wishes for my surgery. [Yes, a total Lobotomy………] Every thing [after a two year stretch of daily agony] went better than expected……..

  7. David: It is rather obvious that the world has turned its back on God. I submit as proof the whole history of the human race. Regarding the second part of the paragraph, my statement is based upon study, intuition, and (especially) faith. It is not something that can be proved one way or the other – at this point in time.
