Hawaii Holds its First All-Mail Election

On Thursday, April 23, Hawaii finished holding its first all-mail ballot election. See this story. The election was to fill a vacant seat in the Honolulu city council.

    Oregon survives with ALL MAIL ballots.

    More cash for the U.S. Postal Snail.

    Less cash for poll workers on election days — waiting for voters to show up — especially LOW- LOW turnouts in vacancy elections (which should NOT be happening).

    Legislator candidates and incumbents should have a rank order list of replacements.

    Temporary appointed replacements for executive/judicial offices.

    Hm. If the ballot is mailed to voters and assuming that they have a generous amount of time to vote and mail it back in, wouldn’t that undermine some of the harsh ballot access argument about voter confusion and chaos?

    I mean, if you are getting the ballot in the mail, have a week or more to look at it, and then mail it back….
