Special Congressional Election in California Will be 5-Party Race

July 21st, 2009

The California special election to fill the vacant 10th district U.S. House seat on November 3 will be a race between members of five political parties. The Green, American Independent, and Peace & Freedom Parties all will be represented. An earlier blog post was incorrect to say that the only parties represented would be Peace & Freedom, Democratic and Republican. The Green Party member running is Jeremy Cloward; the American Independent Party member running is Jerome Denham.

    For not the last time,

Is the AIP candidate pro Constitutional Party
or a rebel/ renegade Ed Noonan/ Alan Keyes type?

    —– Donald Raymond Lake

  2. Don Grundmann Says:

I believe that Jerry Denham will recognize the corruption of the Keyes/Noonan gang within the AIP and will hence support the REAL AIP of Chairman Jim King.

  3. Lucy Stafford Says:

Green Party candidate made the race.

    Alright!

    Thanks for the good news!

  4. Catholic Trotskyist Says:

Why didn’t the Libertarians get a candidate for this race? Stupid stupid stupid. Usually the Libertarians do a lot of congressional races, the Greens and PF do some, and the AIP skips most of them. As a person who lived in California’s 10th district from September 2005 to May 2009, and as the foundation of the Catholic Trotskyist Party was founded partially in that district and partially in the heavily Republican second district where I also live part-time, I can say that the 10th district does have a lot of libertarian-leaning Democrats and Republicans. I hope at least the arch-conservative Catholic philosophy department at Saint Mary’s College of California in that district will endorse the AIP instead of the Republicans.

  5. Porter Rockwell Says:

You’ll notice, yet again that the AIP candidate in this race is from the sane/historical AIP, not the whackjob/Ayatollah Robinson, Monsewer Seidenberg cabal.

Maybe whilst Monsewer Seidenberg is buying double martini’s with Tom Hoeffling and Ayatollah Markup Robinsob is cowering under his bed, scared that Obama’s lawyer might actually serve him, the real AIP does what a real party does: RUNS CANDIDATES.

  6. Gary Says:

I think I knew a Mark Seidenberg decades ago in the Young Republicans. Is this the same guy?

  7. Cody Quirk Says:

Hmmmm, I don’t see the “official” AIP running any candidates.

    How come?

  8. Green Ferret Says:

    Check out Jeremy Cloward’s website:

    http://www.jeremycloward.com/

“Hello, my name is Jeremy Cloward and I am running for the 10th Congressional
District seat of California that is expected to be vacated upon Representative Ellen
Tauscher’s (D-CA) confirmation by the US Senate for Undersecretary of State for
Arms Control and International Security. I am running because the issues that are
important to all of us, healthcare, education, and the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq,
need to be addressed by people and a party that are actually willing to address them.
The Green Party of the United States, my staff, and myself are willing to do it,
however, it will take all of our efforts to bring into existence the society that
we envision — I hope you will join us.”

  9. Michael Seebeck Says:

We didn’t get a candidate in because we were led to believe that the signature deadline in lieu of a filing fee was before the official announcement was made of the election and timeline.

IOW, based on what the SoS told us, we couldn’t pull it.

Yet another example of government incompetence.

I’ll be happy if any of the other three minor party candidates win, but I’m not holding my breath either.

  10. Mark Seidenberg Says:

Jerry Denham will be a member of the State Central
Committee of the American Independent Party upon the Secretary of State posting the results of the
    election.
Sincerely, Mark Seidenberg, Vice Chairman, American Independent Party
