Dede Scozzafava Endorses Bill Owens
November 1st, 2009On Sunday, November 1, Republican congressional candidate Dede Scozzafava endorsed her Democratic opponent, Bill Owens. She had previously indicated she would be neutral between Owens and Doug Hoffman, the Conservative Party nominee. See this story. Thanks to Sam Harley for the link.
New stories that say Scozzafava has withdrawn are misleading. Scozzafava remains on the ballot and every voter is free to vote for her. “Withdraw” generally means a process by which a candidate removes himself or herself from the ballot, but Scozzafava has not done that.

Scozzafava and Newt need to be kicked out of the Republican Party or better yet, we all need to leave and start a new party that actually stands for conservative values.

When I was growing up in Monroe County, upstate NY
was mostly Republican. With the crazies in charge, soon
the GOP will be able to meet in a very small room.

some might enroll in the natural born citizen party

This is the reason why our country is where it is at. The GOP needs to remove the RINO’s like Scozzafava and get back to strong conservative principles. The American Conservative Party is looking better and better.

Le, Why don’t you take back your party and give Boener, McConnell, Gingrich, Grahm et al the boot. Starting a new party (Libertarian) doesn’t cut it. It’s time to stand up. We really need you to go back to the 1940 republican platform. They’re just looting us now.

Why can’t people see that 30 years of fascist republican rule brought this country to its knees and squandered the middle class? WHY?
You can’t start a new party until you kill the GOP.

Phil Sawyer responds:
Most reasonable people can see that the eight years of Bush-Cheney rule was neo-fascist and are happy that it is over with. The Republican Party will be minor-sized by 2012. The “third party” that is the most organized and strong will be the one that fills the void. For my party, I hope that it is progressive in views.

What I meant to write was “For my part,” not, “For my party …” That must have been a Freudian slip: I really do hope that there is a national, Progressive Party organized soon (but not to run against the Obama-Biden administration in 2012).

The Republican Party can and does win when it sticks to true conservative principle.
I emphasize TRUE, not conservative values where one does not need to use terms such as compassionate conservative as a true conservative is compassion and follows Judeo/Christian values in personal, business, and political life

it is amazing to the out and out ignorance of the liberal progressive Marxist leftards in this country. 30 years of the GOP in the last 30 years we have had 2 democrat liberal presidents. in the last 30 years we have expanded social spending. in the last 30 years we have moved more left than in the previous 200 years. now to say that conservatives have brought the country down is so dishonest and is intellectually dishonest and you are a liar.
it is sad to see that history is ignored so that you can feel better about where u stand politically

What would be needed is an anti-statist, constitutionalist, noninterventionist political party.

The selection of John McCain as the repub candidate last time around prooves that the right wing nuts aren’t even 51% of the repub party, much less the entire American electorate. For as long as extreme conservatives play these games…. so shall the republican party be a SMALL TENT party. As a lifelong republican & 12 year repub precinct committeman and past municipal chair in the great state of Indiana, I have not left the party…. but the party seems to be leaving me!

The RINO’s out there are the ones who actually believe in the Constitution. I met an elected Republican who said he was a RINO because be was working for liberty and freedom. Most Republicans are like George Bush who said the Constitution was nothing more then paper.

“Dog bites man” hmmm… no story there. “Republican endorses Democrat” hmmm no story there, either. This crap will only change when enough people get tired of it. At this point, we are no where close to that happening. Deal with it.

so just what is a Republican anymore? Social conservative, RINO, moderate, fiscal conservative, right wing nut that would increase the size of government in order to control our personal decisions? They are all over the board with an image that Ronald Reagan and Barry Goldwater would NOT recognize. Sad.
So the GOP left me, Ross Perot woke me up to fact that I was fiscally responsible, and the Libertarian Party woke me up to fact that ultimately I am a fiscal libertarian, because we can’t build enough jails and have a police force big enough to mandate personal behavior. Germany tried it in the 1930’s and the GOP hard right wing nuts seem to relish in telling us how to live our personal lives.
Most people fall in the middle and “just want to be left alone” darn it.

Phil Sawyer responds:
Who knew that “compassionate conservative” would turn out to be neo-fascist? Well, after the first four years, all Republicans (and others) who were paying any attention at all should have know better than to vote for the Bush-Cheney ticket again.

Addendum: Any person who is still a member of the Republican Party today should be ashamed of himself or herself.

Le Snelling: The Constitution Party made be the option to which many are looking. Although loosely organized in New York, many other states have well-run organizations and are growing their membership faster than the GOP and the Democratic Party.
November 3rd, 2009 at 1:39 pm
I retract the phrase “loosely organized” since I no longer live there. I anticipate the party growing well in the state since the party’s platform caters to fiscal discipline and restricting the federal government to its Constitutional limitations.
