		<description>Of course, by &quot;independent&quot; the poll and the article mean anyone who&#039;s not a Democrat or Republican -- so the term would include not only NPA (No Party Affiliation) candidates but also candidates from any of the four other parties currently qualified for the 2010 ballot (Green, US Taxpayers, Libertarian, and Natural Law).  And there is still time for other parties active in Michigan but not yet on the ballot (such as the Socialist Party of Michigan, for example) to qualify.</description>
