The Indiana LP is not asleep with Mr. Coleman in Indianapolis. That is an example of a GOP city council member switching to the LP. But, the LPIN and Mr. Coleman network very well.

Here's an interesting little tidbit, that only a tiny handful of Michigan Libertarians are privvy too.

In 1992, Andre Marrou ran for President on the Libertarian ticket. One state legislator endorsed him: Rep. Steve Dresch of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Now Dresch was a loner, a hardliner libertarian. He was not very popular in Lansing.

He was a nerdy, long-beareded sort, who droned on endlessly about philosophy.

Marrou came to Michigan to campaign in the summer, and Dresch acted as his host. In fact, Dresch took Marrou all over the state. At one point, he formally joined the Libertarian Party, and announced he was switching for his final 5 months or so in office.

It only got picked up in some local Michigan media.

But for 5 months Rep. Dresch was essentially a Libertarian in the Michigan House.

Sadly, he died a few years back. Of lung cancer I believe. The guy was a literal chain smoker.

Why is this relevent?

Cause we may have the same situation here. If Alderman Stankivik switches to the Libertarian Party for her final two months in office, that means the LP can claim that at one point they had a City Councilwoman in a large city in Maryland - Annapolis.

I think that'd be helpful to the Libertarian Party and the overall libertarian movement. But alas, the LP is awful at spreading good news like that, like they've completely forgotten about Dresch.
