Just to clarify - the Independence Party did not recruit Mayor Srp to run for the special election. Srp, a member of the Independence Party since 1997, filed as a candidate for the Independence Party, and is seeking the party's endorsement. State delegates in Congressional District's 1 and 2 are holding an endorsement election that is expected to be complete December 30. The Independence Party of Minnesota abides by their decision.

Mayor Srp's experience and record as Waseca's mayor is impressive as a no-nonsense, get-the-job-done leader who knows how to balance a budget and manage a city to live within its means.

Personally, I am proud to support Mayor Srp. Fully expect the party (simply as a democracy matter of political decorum) to follow suit within a few days.
