New York Times Carries Letter to the Editor, Advocating Independent Federal Election Commissioners

The December 29 issue of the New York Times contains this letter, advocating that President Barack Obama appoint one or more Federal Election Commissioners who are not members of either the Democratic or Republican Parties.

As the letter explains, the law does not require three Democratic commissioners and three Republican commissioners. It only says no party may have more than three commissioners.

  1. How about having NONPARTISAN Presidents/VPs — i.e. ALL nonpartisan elective executive officers and ALL nonpartisan elective judges — via nonpartisan A.V.

The FEC is one more scheme by the party hacks in the gerrymander Congress to reduce competition — as if the 95 plus percent one party safe seat gerrymander districts are not enough.

P.R. for all legislative bodies NOW — before it is too late.

  2. at very least, set up 50 states with same ballot access laws, and of course prevent them from being overly restrictive. Take the best or most reasonable and mold into one universal law for each state. That probably won’t happen in my lifetime. And allow for independents and minor parties to gain positions on county Board of Elections!
