Wall Street Journal Article on San Francisco Green Party

Published on January 13, 2010, by in General.

The Wall Street Journal has this article on the San Francisco Green Party. It is puzzling that on the same day, the San Francisco Bay Guardian also ran this article on the San Francisco Green Party. The two articles are not the same, although they both emphasize that by some indicators, the party is weaker than it was in the past.

  1. If only San Francisco had IRV.
    Oh wait, they do.

Wasn’t the GP its strongest when Matt Gonzalez challenged Gavin Newsome in a traditional 1-1 runoff before IRV was implemented?

That was when name recognition wasn’t the be all and a challenger could be in the debate.

Now its name recognition uniless you skillfully game the system as Ed Jew was able to do. Of course that is the point of IRV.

  2. one other comment. FUSION Voting. It works and it doesn’t stifle debate.

Is the Green Party on the verge of death?
