Kristin Davis Will Use “Anti-Prohibition” Party Label in New York
July 8th, 2010Kristin Davis, candidate for Governor of New York, needs 15,000 signatures to appear on the November 2010 ballot. Petitioning started in New York on July 6. Davis will use the partisan label “Anti-Prohibition”. She had earlier hoped to receive the Libertarian Party nomination, but the Libertarian Party chose Warren Redlich for Governor instead.
If Davis gets as many as 50,000 votes, the “Anti-Prohibition Party” will be ballot-qualified in New York state for the next four years. She wants to end the prohibition of marijuana, casino gambling, same-sex marriage, and paying for sex. New York ballots provide for a symbol, or “logo”, on the ballot. Her logo will be a marijuana leaf.

They should have at least let her on for Liet. Governor.
Also, a dead camel would have been the better logo for the Anti-Prohibition Party.

Just for the fun of it, here’s a list of the choices that will probably be on the ballot in November:
Democrat: Cuomo
Republican: Lazio
Independence: Cuomo
Conservative: Lazio
Working Families: Kenneth Schaeffer
Taxpayers: Paladino
Anti-Prohibition: Davis
Green: Hawkins
Libertarian: Redlich
Socialist Workers: Dan Fein
Rent is Too Damn High: McMillian
Freedom Party: Charles Barron
I predict that the Taxpayers line becomes a party for 2011, but that it never runs any more candidates.
Maybe, just maybe, the Greens get their 50,000.
Davis is really running in the wrong race. She should go for congress.

If not a dead camel how about copyright infringement by using the slick and cool Joe Camel that sells Camel cigarettes to kids? I always thought that camel was so cool it made me want to start smoking!

The Socialist Workers Party has already announced that it will not be petitioning statewide in New York state. It will only petition in New York for one US House seat.
And, McMillian’s label will be “Rent is 2 Damn High”.
And I predict the Working Families Party will in the end be allowed to cross-endorse Cuomo.

Also, The Diversity Party has placed an ad on craigslist, looking for paid contractors to collect signatures. Their candidate is Alicia Figueras.
The Constitution Party seems to have has disappeared, at least as far as their web site suggests, in New York.
I’m a little surprised that the PSL doesn’t seem to be running anyone.

I don’t think the Constitution party wants to compete with the Conservatives.
