New York City Final Official Vote Count is 17% Higher than Election Night Tally

New York state is still tallying the official results for the November 2, 2010.  However, the New York city Board of Elections has just finished its tally.  According to this story, its final official count of the number of votes cast is 17% higher than the total reported a few days after the election.

This news is good news for the Libertarian Party.  The odds that the party polled at least 50,000 votes for Governor are now considerably better.  Thanks to Rick Hasen’s ElectionLawBlog for this news.

  1. Every election is NEW and has ZERO to do with any prior election — since Adam and Eve kids, etc. had the first election.

Way too difficult for lawyers and judges to understand.

  2. Let’s keep our fingers crossed. I don’t see why NONE OF THE ABOVE can’t be an automatic line on all state ballots. In primaries we have NO Preference for president and judges have a similar type line.

  6. Yet another example, as if we needed one, of the awful way that the state and city boards of elections work in New York. These are almost completely independent entities, the one governing the 57 counties outside New York City, and the other overseeing the five boroughs (counties) inside NYC. And the one is more incompetent and corrupt than the other! By statute all full-time election board workers are privately hired, half by the D’s and half by the R’s, then placed on the public payroll and civil service list. Unbelievable.

  7. I was talking to a NY poll worker who complained about the closing process were the workers pulled out the flash drive before the scanning system finished writing the voting totals to the disk. In NY we have a mandatory audit of the entire system buy manually counting a set % of the paper ballots. A lot of the increase came from this audit.

  8. # 7 – a TOTAL subversion of 14th Amdt, Sec. 2 ???

Where are the court cases in NY — criminal and civil — to imprison / bankrupt the EVIL morons involved ???

  9. According to math, if these numbers are correct, the Libertarian Party is already either at or over 50,000 votes.

We already have 46,000 votes without the 17%, so assuming we continue to get the same number of percentage votes, we have already exceeded 50,000 votes.
