Libertarian Petition in Kentucky Challenged by Republican Activists

Several Republican Party officials in Kentucky have filed a lawsuit in state court to remove the Libertarian Party nominee for State Treasurer from the ballot. See this story. They charge that he does not have 5,000 valid signatures. The state has already certified him for the ballot.

  1. This is motivated by the fact that Libertarian Party candidate for Treasurer Ken Moellman is polling at 16%. The Republicans are afraid that Ken will make their candidate look foolish in a debate that is going to be held soon and that this will drive Ken’s poll numbers even higher, so they are trying to get him kicked off the ballot. I think that Ken probably has enough valid signatures to be on the ballot, so hopefully he’ll win this challenge.

  2. Most sane states have an EARLY deadline regarding challenges to nominating petitions.

KY still in the Stone Age ???

Will KY troops on the front lines in SW Asia fighting the BARBARIANS get their ballots and back on time ???

  5. Sounds more like a liberal democrat move to me. Afraid they can’t win an election on their own merit so sue to gain an unfair advantage and rob someone else of their right to run for public office.
