Rick Perry Campaign Web Page Posts Article from March/April 1987 Libertarian Party News

The Rick Perry for President campaign has posted on its web page a copy of part of the Libertarian Party News from March/April 1987. That page of the newsletter is Ron Paul’s letter of resignation from the Republican Party. Paul’s letter is somewhat critical of President Ronald Reagan.

At the Republican presidential debate of September 7, Paul had criticized Perry for having been a supporter of Al Gore for President in 1988, and Paul also held himself out as an early supporter of Ronald Reagan for President. Nothing in Paul’s 1987 resignation letter directly contradicts anything Paul said in the debate. But Perry is trying to show that Paul has not always been an unabashed supporter of all of Ronald Reagan’s policies.

  1. Perry’s not the sharpest tool in the shed. He doesn’t even realize that this makes Ron Paul look better.

This letter shows that Ron Paul left the Republican party because he was too conservative for the Party. You know, the same ultra conservative that everyone is trying to claim throne to now, except Ron Paul has actually been consistently conservative for 40 years. The same definitely cannot be said about Perry.

Next thing you know, Perry’s going to start accusing Ron Paul of being too Constitutional.

  2. “But Perry is trying to show that Paul has not always been an unabashed supporter of all of Ronald Reagan’s policies.”

That’s because Ronald Reagan was a con-man and a liar who talked about cutting the size of government but then did the exact opposite.

  3. Perry tends to forget that he was a Democrat until 1989. Ron Paul at least stayed true to his beliefs, Perry just flipped over completely as he has so many times.

  4. # 3 The EVIL/senile Reagan started the MAJOR deficit rot in 1983.

The U.S.A. did not have an economic collapse in 1983-1992 only due to the moron foreign folks who used their new trade surpluses to make loans to the Reagan-Bush I regimes.

More deficit insanity in 2001-2011 — result the ongoing Great Depression II since 2006 — along with the INSANE govt debt levels

    — now about 18 TRILLION – all govts in the U.S.A. with trillions more in coming UN-funded liabilities.

  6. For all the talk about this being a 2 man race between Perry and Romney, the truth is it’s really between Perry and Paul. Romney will matter in a few month but for now he’s just hanging out. As time goes by People are going to find out more and more about Perry. The 2 things we know for sure are 1. Paul will still be fighting right until the convention and 2. if he wants to be on the November 2012 ballot he can be. Perry might just flame out long before then. http://www.ronpaulwasright.net/Liberal-Rick-Perry.html

  7. The Ronald Reagan that ran in 1980 would not have supported all of what Reagan did in the latter years of his presidency either.

  8. “The Ronald Reagan that ran in 1980 would not have supported all of what Reagan did in the latter years of his presidency either.”

    He lied to get elected.
