Massachusetts Secretary of State Releases Presidential Primary Ballot Candidate List

On December 12, the Massachusetts Secretary of State said he will put these seven Republicans on the presidential primary ballot: Michele Bachmann, Newt Gingrich, Jon Huntsman, Ron Paul, Rick Perry, Mitt Romney, and Rick Santorum. He also said he would put President Obama on the Democratic ballot.

The Secretary of State did not name anyone for the Green Party presidential primary. The state chair of that party is expected to submit a list of names by January 6, 2012, and they will also be on the ballot automatically.

The law says anyone discussed in the news media is on the ballot automatically. Anyone else can qualify with a petition of 2,500 signatures. Thanks to Bill Van Allen for this news.

Massachusetts Secretary of State Releases Presidential Primary Ballot Candidate List — 8 Comments

  1. For the first time since the 1970’s, one person who WILL NOT appear on the Massachusetts ballot, is 4th District Congressman Barney Frank!!
Rachel Brown, one of the members of the LaRouche National Presidential Slate of Candidates running for Congress, who publicly debated Barney in what now will become HIS LAST EVER CAMPAIGN, has issued a statement titled, “On the Retirement of Barney Frank: First Barney, Then Obama.”
The full statement can be accessed at http://www.larouchepac.com/node/20603.
The statement reads begins, “The recent decision of Barney Frank to retire is the only decision he has ever made which I agree with. Indeed we may never know the real reasons for this decision……”
Well, one thing that can be said in defense of Barney Frank, “He is the only person who ever stuck his mouth in a dining room table.”
As they say, the rest is history.

  2. #1 and #4, thanks, but I am afraid not.

#3, Darcy still has time, but it isn’t easy to organize a petition campaign in a state that is thousand miles away from one’s home. I think the signatures are due Jan. 6, but I’m not positive.

  3. @5 – I spoke with Darcy yesterday, he said that he will not petition. Essentially, the funds needed to cover the cost of petitioning plus the filing fee could be put to better use elsewhere.
