New Mexico Says Americans Elect Petition Has Enough Valid Signatures

The New Mexico Secretary of State’s office says the Americans Elect petition is valid. The state requires 3,009 signatures. Americans Elect is the first group to submit a successful petition for party recognition in New Mexico since 2010.

Parties that were already ballot-qualified in New Mexico for 2012, besides the Democrats and Republicans, are the Libertarian Party (which petitioned in 2010) and the Independent Party (which met the vote test in 2008). In New Mexico, when a party either petitions or meets the vote test, then it is ballot-qualified for the next two elections.

    Americans Elect is also now in the process of having its delegate members draft and support candidates, representing an important step toward revolutionizing our political system, hopefully toward something more akin to direct democracy. The more of us who join and participate, the more likely we can shift the power away from vested interests into the hands of individual voters.

    Bloomberg may still be holding his cards.
    He just gave $250,000 to Planned Parenthood, getting some good publicity.

    Will play well with women voters
    Americans who favor choice

    former Gov. Christtine Todd Whitman talks about a new project — Americans Elect.

    “In her introduction, Mayor Ellen Dickson described Americans Elect, which Whitman helped found,”

    Whitman helped found? First I ever heard of that.

    If only the Republicans would nominate Newt, creating a huge space in the center.

    The internal turmoil has reached a din.
    The are starting to turn on each other.
    Unity ’08 all over again.
    The one difference is Ackerman’s wallet.
