  1. to William Kelleher: That is the beauty of Americans Elect. Professor Kotlikoff doesn’t have to be a traditional candidate. AE leadership support really doesn’t hold much weight. It is the people who will be electing the nominee.

    However he does need to be able to generate widespread support…and that may be his biggest problem. Since he will be getting no financial support from Americans Elect he will also have to show that he has the ability to raise sufficient funds to be able to run a real campaign. Under our present system, there are only a few people who could do this. What Americans Elect does provide is a vehicle in which the candidate will be already qualified and on the ballot in all 50 states. That is an incredible head start – both financially and legally.
