Nevada Constitution Party Wins a Non-Partisan Election — 9 Comments

  1. Probably, because he was unopposed. Nevada is one of 5 states that doesn’t permit write-ins in any kind of elections.

  2. Big deal, the Libertarians have hundreds of elected officials including a state assemblyman.

  3. Actually it is a big deal because with this win, the IAP has 5 office-holders in Nevada (4 partisan, 1 non-partisan) while the Nevada Libertarian Party only has one, or two, office holders, I believe (its been awhile since I last checked), and they’re non-partisan positions in a few local towns in Nye County.

One of our IAP office-holders is also the Chairman of a County Commission Board too.

  4. I know the race was non-partisan, but in most races people know which party the candidate belongs to, so races are really only non-partisan in name only. Third parties tend to have problems getting elected even in these non-partisan races because people still vote for the two parties, so it’s always good when the third party folks get elected. I just we could be better at getting mainstream people elected to legislatures.
