Roseanne Barr had more votes than American 3rd Position guy! Peace and Freedom in West Virginia yes!

  2. Jed Siple Says:

Results for non-ballot qualified candidates? Where is this available?

  3. Richard Winger Says:

The results are in the West Virginia Secretary of State’s certificate of ascertainment. The Secretary of State did not put it on her web page. It was e-mailed to me.

  4. Jed Siple Says:

I’d be interested in seeing the full results, if only because I’m working on a database of election results and I’d like it to be as complete as possible.

  5. Shack Says:

Richard, do you know the write-in results for WV Gov and Senator?

  6. Richard Winger Says:

#5, no, I didn’t ask, and now the office is closed.

He’s not going to run against Rand Paul, who is almost certainly going to be running.

  12. Richard Winger Says:

Maryland, and almost all states that permit write-ins, only counts presidential write-ins for presidential candidates who filed a declaration of write-in candidacy. I presume there is someone somewhere who has changed his legal name to Santa Claus, and he must have filed for himself in Maryland and at least one other state (I forget which one now).

Ron Paul was not a candidate, so obviously he didn’t file. If people had been thinking ahead, and they wanted a tally of Ron Paul write-ins in most states, they should have found some other person named Ron Paul who would file as a declared write-in presidential candidate.

  13. Govnoment Says:

    @11 Well if I was a betting man….

  14. Govnoment Says:

…yes, I’d take your money then.

  15. Jed Siple Says:

Yes, there is a man named Santa Claus who filed as a write-in candidate in ’08 and ’12. The only thing I know about him is that he’s a prohibitionist.

  16. Govnoment Says:

That’s it. Who’s got a thousand bucks for me to go down to the courthouse and change my name to Ron Paul? I’ll do it!

  17. Will Fenwick Says:

Here is Santa Claus’s campaign website, apparently he withdrew late in the race and endorsed Jill Stein.

He had a pretty good platform….

    “My political platform includes:

The ten key values of the Green Party platform (www.GP.org):
    GRASSROOTS DEMOCRACY
    SOCIAL JUSTICE AND EQUAL OPPORTUNITY
    ECOLOGICAL WISDOM
    NON-VIOLENCE
    DECENTRALIZATION
    COMMUNITY-BASED ECONOMICS AND ECONOMIC JUSTICE
    FEMINISM AND GENDER EQUITY
    RESPECT FOR DIVERSITY
    PERSONAL AND GLOBAL RESPONSIBILITY
    FUTURE FOCUS AND SUSTAINABILITY

    ~ and ~

Parts of Ron Paul’s “Restore America” plan (RonPaul2012.com):
A TRUE BALANCED BUDGET IN YEAR 3
CUT ONE TRILLION DURING FIRST YEAR
RETURN MOST OTHER SPENDING TO 2006 LEVELS
    ELIMINATE GOVERNMENT WASTE
ADDRESS FUTURE ENTITLEMENTS, TAXES, AND REGULATION
    AUDIT THE FEDERAL RESERVE”

Santa could’ve been a Mountain Party nominee.

  20. Evan Says:

Me and my gf were thinking about voting for Miller but since he did absolutely did not have a chance to win at all like Stein, Johnson, Anderson, and Goode did, we voted Goode. So we are proud to say that 2 of those 119 votes for Goode came from us.

  21. johnO Says:

How did Dr. Jill Stein and Green Party/mountain party do?

  22. Govnoment Says:

    6,302 0.94% Johnson

    4,406 0.66% Stein

  23. johnO Says:

    Thank you

  24. Govnoment Says:

I wonder how many people voted for, for example, Virgil Goode and didn’t count. I guess we’ll never know.

  25. Andrew Says:

Santa Claus is a children’s rights advocate and stood down prior to the election in favour of the Green nominee. Despite that he still beat the Prohibition Party candidate nationwide.

Ron Paul polled 0 votes since he didn’t register as a candidate. This isn’t Oklahoma or DC if a candidate wants his votes counted in West Virginia then they will be (though it may take a while)

  26. johnO Says:

    @2
The Green Papers website has good info.

  27. Jed Siple Says:

Yes I know I’m on Green Papers constantly, but when I posted that they did not have the info. Thank you to Richard Winger for emailing me!

  28. Jeff Becker Says:

Santa Claus is a monk from Incline Village, Nevada. Here is his website http://www.thesanta.im/

  29. johnO Says:

    @24
Are you asking about Evan’s comment #20?

  30. Govnoment Says:

    Just in general.

  31. Larry West Says:

@12 — you are thinking about Montana.

  32. Govnoment Says:

Of course, no way to know if Evan was one of them.
