New York Daily News Lengthy Editorial Attack on Independence Party

The New York Daily News has this long editorial, criticizing the New York state Independence Party and the city Independence Party. The piece does not explain that the state party leaders and the city party leaders are completely hostile to each other, and is unfair and misleading in other ways. Supporters of the party have done a good job of setting out their side of the story in the Daily News comments feature. Thanks to Rick Hasen for the link.

New York Daily News Lengthy Editorial Attack on Independence Party — 3 Comments

  1. Don’t think it’s unfair at all, probably just touching the tip of the iceberg. Both factions are entirely corrupt and using “independence” as nothing more than a cash cow and a vehicle for power and influence.

  2. thank sotomayor for this corrupt situation based on her handling of IPNY and voter confusion of registered non-affiliated voter related voting rights cases when she was on the USCA2C and then at SCOTUS.

  3. The article about the Independence Party, not the editorial, said that it provided the margin of victory for Mayor Mike Bloomberg in 2001 and 2009. In NYC, some people will not vote for anyone on the Republican line. In 2010, Prop. #2 passed 80%-20%, which lowered the signatures required to 3,750 from 7,500. Next year, the Republican candidate might not need the Independence line. He can start a new party line.
