Pennsylvania Libertarians Seek $35,500 in Costs from 2012 Challengers to the Statewide Libertarian Petition
January 9th, 2013On December 31, the Pennsylvania Libertarian statewide candidates asked the Commonwealth Court to award $35,500 in court costs. See this nine-page brief, which says that the attorneys for the challengers did nothing wrong, but that other agents of the challengers did unfair actions. The filing discusses the incident in which someone who held himself out as a law enforcement official made allegedly improper communications with some of the circulators.

In states that have these challenge laws, are there penalties for filling a frivolous and/or false challenge? I’ve been reading these stories on BAN for the last few years and it has lead me to wonder about this.
