Ohio Secretary of State Says Four Minor Parties are on Ballot for 2013

On January 31, Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted issued a directive stating that the Constitution, Green, Libertarian, and Socialist Parties are still on the ballot in Ohio, for calendar year 2013. There aren’t many partisan elections in Ohio in 2013, but a few cities have partisan elections. Also it is always possible that the state will have special U.S. House or state legislative elections in 2013, should a vacancy arise.

The directive does not mention Americans Elect, so it is effectively off the ballot. Thanks to Mark Brown for this news.

  1. I have been a Green Party Candidate for OH1 Congress in 2010 and 2012. This is great news for all four parties.
I was not aware that Americans Elect was ever on the ballot in Ohio. I will research to see if any other parties were on the ballot since the 2009 6th Circuit decision forcing the OH SOS to direct minor parties be put on the ballot. Thanks for the good news.

  2. The Ohio Secretary of State put Americans Elect on the ballot for 2012, but of course then Americans Elect didn’t run anyone in Ohio.

  3. The Socialist Party is on the Ohio ballot. That’s the party that ran Stewart Alexander for President in 2012.
