  1. 1 and 2-

And then what would replace it? Or will the Democrats turn America into a one party state? The demise of the Republican party, were it to happen, would either be an incredible opportunity for minor parties like the Greens and the Libertarians, or the death kneel for democracy in America (which is already on its knees as it is).
But I doubt either major party is going anywhere anytime soon so long as they both have mass amounts of money and corporate backers. Quite frankly, I wish BOTH major parties would just fade away. They’ve been in power long enough, and are doing more harm than good now. Bring in the Greens and Libertarians to replace them.

  2. Hmmm. Akin to the ROT in the final days of the Roman Republic — i.e. when the EVIL killer tyrant Augustus Caesar took over the regime ???

6,000 plus years of EVIL monarchs/oligarchs [MINORITY rule] v. Democracy [MAJORITY rule].

P.R. and nonpartisan App.V. — before it is too late.

  3. Isn’t that what happened in the Republican Party last year? Well, I guess they decided to make it formal, or at least come out of the closet.

  4. 3 –

I would suggest that it be replaced by a Republican party that does not fear and publicly ostracize fact, does not attempt to marginalize significant elements of American demographics, does not monger in fear and bigotry to win elections, and does not spend most of its time trying to rig elections for their benefit. That would be a good start.

Perhaps attempting to minimize the effects of the radical Tea Party element of the right is a good sign that that might be possible. But if the Republican Party is destined to be the instrument of power wielded by Tea Partiers, I say die. As quickly as possible.

  5. The GOP is on the way out and when they go, the Democrats will quickly follow them. Neither party can hold itself together without the threat of the other. The only reason they lasted this long is because we don’t have free elections.
