The Daily Illinoisan, a daily newspaper published in Carbondale, Illinois, has this story about the Green Party’s state convention held March 2. It is somewhat unusual for daily newspapers to cover minor party state conventions, especially in non-election periods.
It was also reported in The Southern Illinoisan, in the first page of the Local section. I am quite pleasantly surprised by the attention that the meeting has received (although I wish I had been able to go; between mid-term college assignments and an overall lack of sleep the last several weeks…darn…). Perhaps it’s because of how well Paula Bradshaw did in the last election. 5.6% is quite good for minor party candidates in Illinois.
Oh, wait, never mind! That is the Southern’s article. Typo…
Unusual, yes.
But the organizers did schedule the convention downstate, also unusual.
And I’ll bet the organizers sent out news advisories and news releases to let the media know it was happening. Some might say that was unusual.
My bet is that there are some disgruntled Greens outraged that the convention was in such a hard to get to, out of the way city.
