Montana Senate Passes Top-Two Primary Referendum Bill

On April 4, the Montana Senate passed SB 408 by a vote of 28-22. This is the bill to provide that in 2014, the voters will be asked if they want a top-two primary system. All Republicans voted for the bill except for one; all Democrats voted against it. Thanks to Mike Fellows for this news.

  1. This bill still has a 3rd reading on Friday before moving over to the Montana house.

  2. Senator Arthun is chair of the Senate State Administration, where SB 408 should have been heard instead of Public Health.

  3. The Montana Democrats are working on a plan to stop those bills on third reading, including SB 408, today in the Montana Senate.
    . The event will be front page news in Montana newspapers tomorrow.
