Chicago holds an election for city office, including the three citywide offices, in February 2015. The petition filing deadline is Monday, November 24. Citywide candidates need 12,500 valid signatures. See this story, which explains the difficulty of obtaining these signatures for candidates who are not backed by the Democratic Party organization. The elections are non-partisan but the Democratic Party still has a very large influence in the process.

How many signatures does it take to sign up as a candidate for the Chicago City Council – or whatever name they give such entity?
Has there ever been a court challenge to this many signatures?
Clearly another year is being wasted by those with vested interests in teamwork and cooperation for the good of the whole.

Obviously not many reader of B.A.N. over the long weekend, as no one seems to know how many signatures does it take to sign up as a candidate for the Chicago City Council – or whatever name they give such entity.
