Libertarians Meet Vote Test in North Dakota and Maryland for First Time

Here is a link to the North Dakota Secretary of State’s page. All three Libertarian Party nominees have over 5% of the vote, and all precincts are counted. The party needed 5% for Secretary of State to retain its qualified status for 2016. This is the first time a minor party has met the North Dakota vote test since 1996, when the Reform Party polled 12.20% for President.

In Maryland, the Libertarian nominee received 1.45% of the vote, enough for the party to keep its qualified status in 2016. This is the first time any minor party has met the Maryland vote test since the current law was passed in 1998. The vote test only applies to President and Governor. Although the Reform Party got 6.5% for President in 1996, at that time the vote test was 10%. In 1998 it was lowered to 1%. 3. Roseanne Started Arab Spring (And probably didn’t Know!)
    By James Ogle

Where do you think the term “99%” came from?

That figure was the one we were typing daily on
Roseanne’s blog, before she spoke at Occupy
    Wall Street’s (OWS’) Day One!

Roseanne was a benefactor for a workers’ union in NYC,
and OWS had invited her to speak at the time I was
coaching her on the math of pure proportional
representation for electing a 100-member parliament.

OWS may have taken the 99% figure from the mathematical
equation, where the closest between a 101-way tie
is broken by one vote for the first 100 names:

    1/101=.99 .99 X 100 (plus 100 votes) = 99% (plus 100 votes).

Unfortunately OWS and Arab Spring didn’t use the system to
    elect leaders.

Leaders under PR are elected and rotated in and out and
held accountable by a perpetual “vote of confidence”.

99% (plus 100 votes) is the guaranteed satisfaction
level for a 100-member committee. But that 99% INCLUDES
    #101, #102, #103, #104, etc., etc, as consecutively
    ranked names as back-ups.

We’re FOR UNITING the 100%, and not dividing 99% vs 1%!

In 2016 our guidelines have us projected to elect up
to 10,000 members with a minimum guaranteed satisfaction
level of 99.99% (plus 10,000 votes).

That’s because our elections create a scenario where we
approach as close as possible to a 10,001-way tie,
and the first 10,000 names to break the tie with
one vote are elected. But the 10,001th name isn’t
elected and serves as the first consecutively ranked
name as a back-up for the team.

    1/10,001 = .009999
    10,000 X .9999 (plus one vote) = 99.99% (plus 10,000 votes)
    * * *
    end

  2. Richard,
Can’t you put a word limit on James Ogle? Actually, he should pay you/BAN for his use of this forum to “promote” his imaginary parliament. This posting is entirely too long.
