Mark Frohnmayer, Who Had Supported Top-Two in Oregon, Now Says “Choice Should be Maximized in the November Election”

Mark Frohnmayer, who worked hard for Oregon’s top-two ballot measure earlier this year, posted this statement on November 5, the date after the election. Significantly, the statement says, “Choice should be maximized in the November election, when the most voters participate.”

This is a hopeful sign. The proponents of top-two are generally individuals who truly want a better election system, and the lack of dialogue between top-two supporters and top-two opponents has been unfortunate.

  1. What does Mr. Frohnmayer mean by “Choice should be maximized in the November election, when the most voters participate.” Where is he getting his numbers from? I suspect this gentleman had not changed his views on Top Two. He’s just laying back temporarily, licking his wounds, and will make a decision to con the voters into another “Top Two” Scheme in the near future.

I have said yesterday, I will say today, and I will say tomorrow, “only when 3rd party and Independent candidates are given equal access to the General Election Ballot along with access to a series of Debates among all candidates, with the costs of the campaigns and the debates paid for through Public Financing and only by Public Financing.

Until this goal is reached, we will continue this ongoing battle of getting ballot position in one state, then have to turn around and fight for it in another where we once had it. This is what we have been doing for over 40 years and it is not getting any better.

Until we make ballot access a civil rights issue, we are going to be fighting a hopeless battle from one generation to the next.

  2. Stop the MORONS with their MORON timebomb so-called reforms –
Top 2 primaries, IRV/RCV, term limits, etc.

Due to the MORONS, the USA is now as in 1854-1860 — quite ready to blow up.

    NO primaries.
    ONE election.
Ballot access by EQUAL nominating petitions.
    P.R. and nonpartisan App.V.

    Difficult only for math MORONS.
