Washington Post Web Page Lists Preliminary Election Returns for All Ballot-Listed Gubernatorial and U.S. Senate Candidates

The Washington Post has preliminary election returns for Governor at this link. The Post lists all candidates who were on the ballot. The names of the states are missing, but they are in alphabetical order.

The Wyoming results are faulty because they omit the significant write-in vote.

Here is a link to the Post’s election returns for U.S. Senate. The Nebraska abbreviation “PEC” means “Petitioning candidate”, which is the Nebraska term for independent candidates.

The New Jersey Senate returns unfortunately omit the party labels. Those labels are: LaVergne “D-R Party”; Schroeder “Economic Growth”; Sabas had different labels in different counties, but mostly used “We Need More”; Boss had different labels in different counties, either “NSA Whistleblower” or “NSA Did 911”; Baratelli was “Libertarian”.

  1. Initially, I did not predict the GOP would win the Senate. I was proven wrong on Tuesday.

The big question is, will national politics really change with the GOP takeover of Congress?

I predict the struggle between Obama and Congress will continue. It may even get to the threat of Impeachment of the President. But even if he is impeached, the Senate sitting as the Jury, will acquit him, fearing massive retaliation by the Democrats (and the nation) in 2016.

As one article I read this evening, suggests that even though the GOP won the Mid-term elections, they lost the Cultural Wars. Not that I think the GOP was ever a really strong defender of the what one might call the Traditional Culture, it is true the Republicans will be given the benefit of this in tomorrow’s history textbooks.

I believe the Republicans will continue to be traditional Republicans. They will attempt to derail Obamacare, but will fail. They may even attempt to destroy Social Security and Medicare, but reasonable Americans will not allow this to happen. They will continue to favor Business over the average working citizen.

So, in short, the GOP should enjoy this power they won on Tuesday, but it will be a different story for them in 2016. Not only has the Culture of this great nation changed, but the Republicans will be slow in adapting to it. As a result, they most likely will not only lose the Presidency again in 2016, but Congress as well.

I see a Republican Party becoming a libertarian party in the future. If they do not, the Libertarian Party may replace them in the next 20 to 40 years – if not sooner. If the latter should occur, the GOP, may become a 3rd party or at least a strong regional or sectional party. We are turning a major page of the history of our republic.
