According to this story, some leading Chicago African-American pastors have called on the Chicago Board of Elections to keep Mayoral candidate Willie Wilson on the ballot in the February 2015 election. Wilson turned in 47,000 signatures, but challengers allied to incumbent Mayor Rahm Emanuel are seeking to invalidate the petition. The law requires 12,500 signatures.

If Willie Wilson turned it 47,000 signatures, it is hard to believe that enough of them could be found invalid so that he would not have the minimum of 12,500 valid signatures. This means that some 35,000 signatures would have to be found invalid. I know Chicago probably has a much more rigid petition process than does Alabama, but I would think Mr. Wilson had professionals helping him gather these signatures – or at least he should have had.
If the Chicago Board of Elections knocks Wilson off the ballot, then it will be in injustice for sure.
